RX2 engine mount question
 

The previous owner of my RX2 was going to put a ford 2.3 liter turbo engine in the car. He cut out the stock engine and tranny mounts out and welded these in. Do you guys think I should cut these back out and weld in some new pieces myself or buy a whole new crossmember?

if you can find a crossmember go with that, or thats what i would do.

Yikes!!! I had the same exact problem. I was able to locate someone who was parting out an RX 2, and buy his crossmember.

Even if you can weld, you still have to find the pieces or custom fab them. So, I would just keep your eyes peeled for someone parting out a car, and then hit them up.

Thanks guys how much are crossmembers going for? I dont wanna get ripped off but I dont wanna lowball somebody either.

You can expect to pay anywhere from $100 to about $200. I got mine for $120 after shipping, and saw one go on ebay for about $140.

Thanks. One last question. are the 71-74's crossmembers all the same?

From what I understand there are 2 types, and they will both work. One is straight across, and I am not even sure that they are available in the US. The other is commonly referred to as the "Banana" type because of its shape. This is the one you will probably end up with. Also, this one makes the 13b conversion a little easier from what I understand.
