Rx2 Brake Project Upgrade

6 Attachment(s)
Fellow Rotorheads,

This is the brake project that I have been working on for couple of months now. I finally finished it yesterday! Check out these pics... I used TII calipers, BMW brake rotors and still used the Rx2 hub!!!! The rotor is about 11 1/2 inches compared to the 9 inch original. I had to make a custom bracket to accept the caliper and rotor. Everything FITS LIKE A GLOVE with no rubbing issues ;)

I used a 1989 325I and they line up with the Rx2 hub with minimal adjustment.

Wow, this looks great. I have been looking for replacement rotors but keep coming up empty. This looks like a great upgrade and a way to have parts you can easily find to replace. I would be very interested to learn more. Maybe a quick how-to if you are willing to share your recipe.

Thanks,

-Shane

Thanks! I have no problem sharing the details. Still working on the perfection and all the measurements. I'm hoping I can bring a strut housing with everything mounted to 7Stock.

Nice work!

Are you using a stock RX7 rotor/hub with the rotor machined off and hole tapped to bold the BMW rotor on?

shane w 09-02-09 09:18 PM

I wish I could be at 7stock. Michigan would be a long drive in my deuce. I look forward to hearing the details.

Thanks! I'm using the Rx2 hub with the rotors tapped to hold the BMW rotors. Right now I'm in the process of bolting the hub to the rotor.

Hey, curious if you made any progress on your brake swap? I would appreciate any specifics you have. I would love to do something similar to my deuce.

Thanks,

-Shane
