Rotary Spitfire update

The Abomination has been to several venues since swallowing/puking an apex seal, with much better results. The car handles much better than I ever thought it would, given its scrapyard/backyard origins. Two FTD's so far, more to come (I hope!).

thats one good looking spitfire you got there!!

Slightly newer picture. See the haze near the left rear tire? Needs a smidge more fender clearance.

That thing looks like fun!

There was a 12A Spitfire for sale on ebay about a month ago... too bad I missed it! They look like fun....
|
Does it qualify as a K-car?

That thing looks scary fast. That is awesome. Nothing like the feel of driving a car with no top.
|
It is very quick. The biggest problem so far is lack of traction when the engine gets into the fat part of the power; it just starts spinning the rear tires, even with DOT stickies and limited slip. Get on it, listen for the wheelspin, back off the gas a bit. Then the tires bite and the cones lean toward you.

noice.
time for flares and slicks |
The cones lean toward you? Hahahaha! Sounds scary :P Good to hear that your project is going so well. Hopefully mine will work out as well.
Are you using the Mazda diff? If so, and if it uses a clutch type, you can buy LSD innards for it from Mazda Competition Parts at a reasonable price. They only allow people to buy their parts of they are driving a Masda though. I'm not sure if they are cool with a Rotary powered Spit. |
