Rotary Powered Snowmobile?
Has anyone herd of a rotary powered snowmobile?
yip, got a pic of one somewhere...
can you put the pic on a reply
I have a 20hp 303cc Sachs single-rotor air-cooled rotary engine from a 1974 Arctic Cat Panther snowmobile.
Evenrude and Johnson also built rotary-powered sleds around the same time, but using 35hp and 45hp OMC rotaries of the same configuration as the Sachs unit. |
outboards and lawnmowers were made too never saw a rotary mortorcycle tho.
just go here: http://www.der-wankelmotor.de/
I know it's in German, but it's probable possible to translate it. All types of rotaries can be found here: from miniature ones (RC airplanes) to those used in cars, bikes, planes... http://www.der-wankelmotor.de/Fahrze...neemobile.html just check that site out, it's one of the most complete ones about Wankel engines (I believe it's the best) |
Ya I used to have a 76? Evenrude RC-35-Q with a 35hp single rotor engine.
It weighed 900lbs. and went to 10,000rpm and pulled really hard. That thing was great. |

Well then maybe a chance here, i would like to be turbo charged and about 300 hp very very light wieght , running on pump gas 8-10000 rpm now does that narrow it down!
ooh that's pretty cool
anyone remember Tim Allen's race lawn-mover used Vs. Bob Villa?? That was rotary powered too.
Was it rotary powered in the show? Or after Atkins got ahold of it?

Ok now really does anyone have dimensions ,wieghts of the rotarys so I can see if this will work.. I was in Orlando Speedway last weekend watching rotarys making low seven second passes very impressive for 72 cubic inches. what does it take to make a 300 hp rotary ?

Tim Allens was a Dixie Chopper frame with a helocopter engine on it.
Yes, Dixie Chopper sounds correct. Atkins got it and swapped in a one rotor.
