REPU braided brake lines from ReSpeed
So after seeing Billy @ ReSpeed offer to make braided brake lines for an RX2 I asked about REPU lines. He responded back that he could make them using his REPU lines as a template, so I ordered a set the next week. When I recieved the lines I noticed the odd splined brake line fitting that required a banjo bolt to install but when I pulled my wheels I found your typical brake lines with no banjo bolts. I took pictures and sent them to Billy who noticed that my calipers had the mounting hole for the splined end so we assumed that a PO replaced the lines with a non stock replacement. I tried for over a week to find the banjo bolts locally but after having no luck Billy shipped me a set of banjo bolts from his parts REPU. How freaking cool is that?!!?
I had some trouble with some stripped fittings but once I got the old stuff off, the new lines went right on and look great. Thanks Billy! Great product and even better service from ReSpeed!!! --Erik http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c2...r/P7100003.jpg http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c2...r/P7100005.jpg - |
Man you got lucky. Glad it worked out in the end.

Lucky, but only to a point.
One of the bleeders was snapped off before I replaced the lines but I thought I could pull the air out through the other side with my mightyvac. A test drive today suggests not! Is it possible to bleed air through the resevoir cap? I have a fitting that will seal but I dont know if that will work. Otherwise Im going to have to try and get that broken one out... |
Sorry man, you need to replace the bleeder.
+1 for awesome service from Billy. My RX2 got his first set of braided lines. No pics yet. I'll try to remember to take some before the race this weekend. I have been driving it daily for a while now with no brake problems at all. |
My REPU had a broken bleeder screw. I replaced the caliper. Now my 1st gen has a broken bleeder screw. Stupid POs and ham fisted mechanics for the loss.
|
rockauto.com has spare bleeder screws. if you can get the broken one out. a dab of anti-seize on the threads goes a long way.
|
Yea my other bleeder screw looked like the mechanic never heard of a wrench. Im hoping I can get the broken one out with an easy out and replace both with new ones. If that doesnt work I'll be looking for new calipers. Are they still available new or would I be looking at used parts?
|
yes, REPU calipers are still available but are getting scarce. just ordered some from rockauto.com They sent the ones that have all the hardware and caliper brackets, which was sweet.
