are these parts rebuilt using a poly/ plastic type coating over the ball? or did they remove and replace the tierod stem with a new unit? i know someone that used the poly coated rebuilds and they last only 3-4mths with everyday driving :-(

Nope, everything is new except the pitman and idler arm. The pitman had the ball replace and new inserts installed.

Installed parts today. Now for an alignment

Nice to see you are going the extra mile. Rebuilding RX-2 suspension is a huge pain in the a$$! I'm still going through it with Scott's white liger. One day I will finish and then it's time to do mine... :(

banzaitoyota 03-18-07 04:47 PM

The actual work is easy, its working the OT to pay for it that hurts :)

banzaitoyota 03-18-07 04:52 PM

Front Suspension to do list: (before DGRR)

Hey banzai, if you buy nolethane inner bushings from scott's, please be advised that they won't fit as received. I had to spin them on my fingertips and sand down the OD of the bushing before it would fit into the control arm. That stuff is so soft but tough, that you can scarcely cut it with a knife - very weird stuff.

When you're done, it'll look like you just stuffed a firecracker into a blue cat (nolethane everywhere) but they work great.

Crit, did you remove the inner metal liner that is left once you remove the old bushing? I am guessing that may have been the problem with the install ?

They are definetly a bitch to get into the control arm, but I was able to do it with 2 boards, a vice, and a TON of elbow grease.

I have some OEM Style inner bushings, still debating about the control aarm sway bar bushings

banzaitoyota 03-30-07 09:15 PM

Started turning my own Control Arm Sway Bar Bushings today from some UHMW Polyethylene. Should work, anyone else turned their own bushings?
