quick miata swap question
 

wondering if a first gen 7 sub frame would fit a first gen miata or if you need to modify a 2nd gen to fit. have a turbo II in my 85 already thinking of going miata instead. searched but couldn't find specifics... thx

I'd say modification is inevitable. All 3 chasis are different widths and have different engine mounting positions. Only thing you can do is build a custom motor and transmission mount.

i was planning on cutting the subframe from my 85 se and then modding that since i already have the mounts set up for the turbo II. it seems to me this would be easier than starting from scratch? i'm not sure

So your mounting the front cover motor mounts on it? just find a good way to weld or bolt the frame to the Miata chasis and go for it. Only thing is you will need to cut your tranny tunnel out to clearance the 12a tranny since it mounts higher.
