My conversion has been around the block twice now.Just need to do
things like paint, put the fenders on,new top and interior.Engine pulls
strong ! I have lots of pictures but no web site to host them and Yahoo
pictures is not working.I can email photos,can someone post some of
them here ?

you can upload your photos when you post a reply. it says...attach file. try that. if this doesnt work try sites like angelfire.com or photoclub.com

you can post your pics right in the thread with that photo hosting site. once you click on one of your pics and the larger pic shows up in that pop-up box....right click on the picture ad go to properties....then highlight the address. then right click that and chose "copy" then in your reply you can use the img code to post it. if you do not know how to use IMG ....it goes like this

use {IMG}insert address by using left click and selecting "paste" then end it with {/IMG}

but instead of using { use [

so it would be
{IMG}address{/IMG}

copy that format and you will be able to display your pics in your post.

why is IMG code off?

Your running the stock trans? It should be good for a while(no real big burn outs!) I had Stuff Transaxle build my trans for my VW based kit car with a Turbo II(look in owners pics.) I've talked to guys with stock transaxles and they last if you don't beat them to hard. Its amazing what a stock VW trans will take. I also went with coilover shocks and all urethane mounts and bushings(and a good trans strap to keep the horns from twisting to much.)

Yes stock tranny.I'm driving to the muffler shop tomorrow.Giving it a minor tweak.I'll try the stock tranny for a while and see how it works and holds up.This is a long term toy so there's another trans in the future maybe a 5 speed.I've been working on this beast for 2 years and can't wait to get out there and have some fun.Need the muffler moved ,mount the oil coolers and paint when it gets a little warmer.Black primer for now !

I've been working on my project for about 2 years also. Yes, mounting the mufflers was a lot of fun(not!) I'm running a 3" stainless exhaust with Racing Beat premuffler and a Supertrapp 3"in, 4" out muffler(kind of sounds like an old racing Austin-Healey 6 cyl.) There wasn't very much room under the back of the car to run the exhaust. The oil cooler mount was kind of fun also. I got a bunch of Alum. from the Boeing surplus store here in Seattle(alum. is $1.60 a pound, very cheap!), and machined a mount. There are no really large size bolts on the right side of the Turbo II, so I had to make it real strong and put most of the weight on the bolts where the aircon/power steering usually go. I looked at the your pics and your exhaust comes out just about where mine is and the oil cooler is in just about the same place also. The cooling system was kind of fun(not) to build also. I had a heating problem, so iI had to take the therm. out and replace some of the long hoses from the engine to the radiator tubing with short stainless steel 90s.
If your interested in seeing this car, it will be at a car show here in Port Orchard on Aug 11th called "the Cruz". They close down the whole downtown and there are over 700 cars plus venders, live music in the streets, beer garden, etc.

coolness. what did u use fo the radiator tubing?? How many gallons is it??

Inch and a half electrical tubing. Kennedy Engineered that makes the engine adapter said to use this in their info they send you when you buy from them. You can get a bender from any rental shop. As to gallons, I don't know I never stopped to check. I had a overheating problem, but I think I may have that solved. I had a long rubber hose going from the filler neck to the tubing and it had a flat spot. I got some stainless tubing from Burns Stainless(90 degree bend), and am putting short lenghts of hose in. I am also removing the thermostat(I tried this before replacing the hose and it really helped)
Also kennedy said you have to put a restrictor in the line going into the radiator or you end up with steam.

Mine is exhaust tubing 1 1/2 ".I've had no overheating
problems with mine.Stays around 180-190 .My radiator is from a '79 RX7 with automatic.3 row.Its about 1 inch higher than the top of my engine.There is a small bleed petcock on the top of my thermostat and I used that to get all the air out of my system.A local muffler shop installed the tubing and the exhaust at the same time.Spent some time in a NAPA store back room chosing radiator hoses and now its just smoke and mirrors.Am using only one electric fan so far ,may hook up the second one for the summer.Also using two of the early RX7 oil coolers in the back with no fan.Should be even cooler soon.
