pondering a thought for the REPU's guys

Dad [David Atkins] and I are thinking about making Both front fenders out of fiberglass [making the mold will be the bigest thing in this prosses and making them fit the way thay should.

N0W the Questions that are brought up in our minds are....

What would you pay for these fenders - the shipping cost

and how many are serious about us doing this ????

if you have any Questions than please PM or E-mail me [dannyrotary@yahoo.com] as I will be waching this thread for your in put thoughts and on this topic.

Later

That would be awesome! I dont know what I would be willing to pay though, I am a cheap basterd so probably in the $2-300 range would be my tops. Any more and I would figure out how to pound out and bondo the dents I have in my stock fenders.

How about a fiberglass cab, that is the part I really need :D

more parts what do you mean.

I think fiberglass body panels are a very good idea since we can't get new ones anymore and decent quality used stuff gets harder to find every year. Although I just got my REPU painted, i might buy some glass fenders just for future use.

Shipping wouldn't be pretty but if the shipper has a business account with Mach1, Bax Global, or Saia the shipping gets pretty reasonable. I might make a run up to washington to pick mine up; good excuse to get out of town *and* drive repu.

I would need more parts for the RX2 in order to even think about making molds for the frenders.

"No Commitment" and "Guy Commitment" are terms I use all the time!

Understood Dan!!!

I would buy a set just to have them even though my stock fenders are fine. I would really be interested in a hood. If you make anything please make one of those. Sorta on the subject, does Pineapple have any valances left?

Atkins Dan 11-05-04 06:01 PM

any one else want to put there info in????

Rx7carl 11-06-04 11:41 AM

My suggestion would be to research the shipping and handling options. The shipping costs will be high so see what you can do to keep it reasonable. The handling will drive up the price also because of the need to protect the parts very well so the freight monkeys dont destroy them. Appropriately sized box ($) and use that packing foam thats like the aerosol foam you get at Home Depot. I think that would minimize the size and weight and be the cheapest way to do it. Another idea to consider would be a sort of group buy, by location. So instead of shipping a pair at a time, you ship a bunch together to a location thats within a reasonable distance for all the buyers. That might save some $. Just a thought.

Rx7carl

thanks I did not think of that....

jfaplanet 11-06-04 12:23 PM

Dan, another thought would be to try some of the smaller items to test the waters so to speak, like maybe a fiberglass or carbon fiber battery door, or tailgate. I would however be interested in fiberglass fenders. There was a post a while back on the Yahoo board where someone was advertising Glass fenders for 200 apiece. Not sure if they ever went anywhere with it.

I am in need of a battery box swing down door. Add me to that list....
