well while I am waiting for the ECU to come back again....

installed the R32 GT-R seats my friend is building the brackets. LOL I was told the seat where two tone gray color. Well turns out my friend I got the seats from must be color blind or something, cuase these seats are blue.

update: well I sent the Haltech back on Dec 8th. Got a msg to from Haltech said they never received it. Well looks like $1800+ lost. Tracking number shows it was signed for on the Dec 20th. Looks like someone helped them self to a early xmas gift.

rxtasy3 01-17-11 06:20 PM

if u have proof it was received by haltech and signed for, it's on them.

diabolical1 01-18-11 02:21 AM

great project so far. it sucks what happened with your Haltech, but i agree, if it was signed for, then it shouldn't be left in your lap - $1800 is not "forget-about-it"-money!

87GTR 01-18-11 04:25 AM

this is from the tracking data

Your item was delivered at 12:08 pm on December 20, 2010 in LEXINGTON, KY 40505. The item was signed for by S NICHOLS.

S nicholes My guess is someone signed it as santa claus st nicholas and treated themself to a xmas gift. I have insurance on the box but I dont know if they will pay because someone signed for the box.

looks like Haltech picked a great location

WOW that really seems aggravating. I would be really pissed.

I hope google maps is wrong about that being Haltech. I would suggest calling them and telling them the tracking number and have them look it up while you talk to them. Surely they can figure out what's going on. Blows my mind that they sent you the wrong one, then tried to convince you that it simply had the wrong sticker on it, wtf sort of business is that.

87GTR 01-24-11 07:31 AM

well got some good news.

the junk yard called me about a parts car so...............

down at the junk yard

they had it waiting for me. lol I wanted to get a picture of it with other cars stacked on top but I was too late
http://infini-fc3s.cyberosity.com/ga...icture+065.jpg

smashed down roof from when other cars where stacked on it
http://infini-fc3s.cyberosity.com/ga...icture+066.jpg

i was waiting for the fork lift to flip but never did
http://infini-fc3s.cyberosity.com/ga...icture+067.jpg

I put four spare tires on it and then he put it on the back of my friends flat bed tow truck.

by the time we got back to where my shop space is it was already dark. I will go down there after work tomorrow get some more pictures

http://infini-fc3s.cyberosity.com/ga...icture+068.jpg

it is too bad about the roof I would have liked to put this one back on the road. the paint was really clean until they started put cars on top of it. the hood has huge scrape on it like that dragged some other car over it.

but looks like the old owner cut out the fender in the front and back and made it like a wide body. I will take some better pics of that tomorrow and see if i can get it started.

SonicFD 01-25-11 08:03 PM

Where is the junkyard rust? That is one CLEAN yard. Some people have dirtier garage floors than that.

rx7lee 01-25-11 08:24 PM

sweet looking car i dont think i have seen many of these around iowa

rotarydude 01-26-11 05:51 AM

87GTR I might have a US buyer for some Cosmo interior bits if they are in working condition. The buyer I have purchased or is purchasing the one that is for sale in Canada on this forum and will need the pieces to repair his If you can PM me an email address that I can send to him... thanks

I have 2 water lines i need to cap. the one on the top of the rear rotor iron and on the water pump housing. trying to find a local place that sells caps. but might just end up using a bolt and hose clamp for temporary.

tomorrow I will install the engine and trans into the car and start wiring up the haltech harness so when the ecu comes I can just plug it in.

if I blocked off the BAC do I need to block off where the air pump hard line mounts to the back lower intake?
I bought the Banzai Racing block off kit. im surprised there is not a block off plate for it too.

Leave the BAC on there and use it. Works great for cold starts, helps with the AC, and just generally makes life a lot better. It's not hurting anything, so might as well use it.

isnt that what the idel control under the TB is for too?

C. Ludwig 01-31-11 10:54 AM

Bolt, hose, and clamp works better than the rubber caps to block off the coolant ports. Those caps like to dry rot real fast, split, puke coolant everywhere, and lead to a burned up engine. If you do use the caps, I recommend finding a blot just big enough to fit down in the nipple. Coat it will some silicone and slide it in the nipple. Cover it all with the cap. Another, not as clean option is to use a hose to join the two nipples. The FD hose that runs from the rear iron to the throttle body thermowax is ideally shaped for this purpose.

Yes, I believe on the RE the BAC is under the manifold. Did you mean you blocked off the ACV? The block plate in the middle of the manifold on the turbo side?

Gotta love the Cosmo!

87GTR 01-31-11 11:05 PM

lol yeah when I was making my post and looking at the LIM I was thinking FC3S BAC. Yes I will be keeping the Cosmo BAC that is under the TB for idel control.

it never get really cold here in Okinawa so I am not going to use the thermo wax

C. Ludwig 02-01-11 12:48 AM

Did your ECU ever show up? I'd forgotten all about getting a tracking number for you. I did tell them to make sure to send it USPS.

The coils "look" like the FC coils from the pics I've seen. If you can maybe remove them from the body and get a good clean pic of them and the connectors, we can sort through the proper wiring.

http://infini-fc3s.cyberosity.com/ga...icture+180.jpg

C. Ludwig 02-16-11 01:21 PM

Well, it's using an FD style system with an external ignitor. Without the schematic/pinout, it's impossible for me to say what goes where. The Haltech will run it though. Worst case you could swap the Mazda ignitor for a Bosch 3-channel, simply to have something that you know how to connect properly. Do you have access to a service manual with schematics?

I sent an email to Haltech Australia, we'll see if they have any insight.

87GTR 02-18-11 05:21 AM

Well put the Rays TE37's on to see how they look. I need to get coil overs so I can drop it down. I will get some after I get running.

Tomorrow is a big day going to start installing the

Haltech EUC harness
supra fuel pump
oil cooler and cooler lines
figure out how to mount the inter cooler

tomorrow a local hose shop is going to come over and give estimate on extending the air conditioning lines. my plan is to move the condenser up front and mount the IC resesed in the where the condenser was before.

http://infini-fc3s.cyberosity.com/ga...icture+187.jpg

87GTR 02-19-11 04:51 PM

made only a little progress yesterday. would have gotten more done, but one of friends stopped by to buy the seats and carpet out of the parts Cosmo. I get more done today.

I started laying out the harness
http://infini-fc3s.cyberosity.com/ga...icture+190.jpg

lol looks like a rats nest now. Just getting the wires run to the area they need to go. then they will get cleaned up into a wire loom.
http://infini-fc3s.cyberosity.com/ga...icture+193.jpg

a little better
http://infini-fc3s.cyberosity.com/ga...icture+194.jpg

just setting on the carpet. I think im going to mount it in the or under the glove box. I dont think I will put it under the carpet

Drained the A/C system I really hated to do that cuase it still had R12 in it and was super cold.

87GTR 02-21-11 07:04 PM

Some of you might know that my blue/green/purple lol what ever color Cosmo got flooded one day about 8 months ago and I could never get it started.

http://ultimate-cosmo.cyberosity.com...2/DSC00670.JPG

When I would try and start I would smell fuel and put a little ATF in build up compression and free any seal that might be stuck from carbon build up. I had kind of given up on that engine and was saving up for a rebuild. But the other night around 3am I just like sat up in my bed and said why dont swap the igniters, AFM, map, and ECU from the parts car and see if it would start.

http://infini-fc3s.cyberosity.com/ga...icture+072.jpg

http://infini-fc3s.cyberosity.com/ga...icture+076.jpg

So the next day I went to down the shop and swapped them out and put just a little ATF down the LIM to help wash away the gas and build up compression. turned the key and it started right up.

just a few seconds after starting running a little rough on ATF
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cWIcjXk7y8g

after about 10 minutes of running the smoke was clearing, and after about 20 minutes it was running and idling fine with no smoke.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZcbYrStRcN4

So......... bring on the snowball effect to my current project car with 13B RE engine just a few days from being able to start the car with new computer.... lol while the 20B engine was cooling off I rolled the other Cosmo in the bay and pulled out the 13B....

http://infini-fc3s.cyberosity.com/ga...icture+204.jpg

pulled the 20B car in
http://infini-fc3s.cyberosity.com/ga...icture+208.jpg

http://infini-fc3s.cyberosity.com/ga...icture+209.jpg

http://infini-fc3s.cyberosity.com/ga...icture+213.jpg

let me see I know I picked up a RE Amemiya 20B manifold a few years ago... lets see how it fits

http://infini-fc3s.cyberosity.com/ga...icture+218.jpg

http://infini-fc3s.cyberosity.com/ga...icture+219.jpg

the turbo is just sitting on there and is leaning forward once the bolts are installed it will sit flat
http://infini-fc3s.cyberosity.com/ga...icture+215.jpg

http://infini-fc3s.cyberosity.com/ga...icture+217.jpg

LOL I destroyed the shop that day. I am still amazed on how much trans fluid the AT has in it and how much I can spill on the floor!!

Tonight after work going back down to the shop and clean up of the vacuum lines from under the intakes. install the block off plates. And I need to get pilot bearing and seal then I can drop it into the project car.

87GTR 02-25-11 06:46 AM

made good progress today.

http://infini-fc3s.cyberosity.com/ga...icture+237.jpg

http://infini-fc3s.cyberosity.com/ga...icture+238.jpg

http://infini-fc3s.cyberosity.com/ga...icture+239.jpg

lol the 20b is alot bigger in there than the 13B
http://infini-fc3s.cyberosity.com/ga...icture+240.jpg

lets check to see if the manifold fits
http://infini-fc3s.cyberosity.com/ga...icture+241.jpg

clears every thing nicely. no need to cut and weld
http://infini-fc3s.cyberosity.com/ga...icture+242.jpg

http://infini-fc3s.cyberosity.com/ga...icture+242.jpg

turbo fits good. I think I might need a larger one. now the T04R looks so small on a 20B
http://infini-fc3s.cyberosity.com/ga...icture+243.jpg

http://infini-fc3s.cyberosity.com/ga...icture+245.jpg

down pipe test fit. lots of room and fits good.
http://infini-fc3s.cyberosity.com/ga...icture+246.jpg

wastegate pipe fits nicely around the steering.

http://infini-fc3s.cyberosity.com/ga...icture+248.jpg

87GTR 03-06-11 09:29 AM

was going to start welding up the down pipe and wastegate today but someone who used the mig welder before me welded the wire into tip. I bought 10 new tips for the shop but they cant find them...

http://infini-fc3s.cyberosity.com/ga...icture+280.jpg

oh well not much done today

here is wastegate and starting of the downpipe with vbands.

Tial MVR
http://infini-fc3s.cyberosity.com/ga...icture+268.jpg

http://infini-fc3s.cyberosity.com/ga...icture+269.jpg

The RE Amemiya manifold has a Trust waste gate 4 bolt flange on it just like this one that cut off the 13B manifold.

I was going to cut off the flang and weld it on to the pipe. but I think I will just weld the Tial Vband flang right onto the old trust flang. kinda like this.
http://infini-fc3s.cyberosity.com/ga...icture+270.jpg

I have a RE Amemiya front pipe that is 80mm for the stock turbos. I was going cut off stock flang but I think I will end up welding a vband on it too

http://infini-fc3s.cyberosity.com/ga...icture+274.jpg

I want to make it really fast and easy to swap out front pipes when I have to JCI inspection. so I can put the stock front back on.

http://infini-fc3s.cyberosity.com/ga...icture+276.jpg

http://infini-fc3s.cyberosity.com/ga...icture+277.jpg

http://infini-fc3s.cyberosity.com/ga...icture+278.jpg

http://infini-fc3s.cyberosity.com/ga...icture+279.jpg

87GTR 03-08-11 06:42 AM

well had and hour to do some work on the car. I want to start removing part of the old harness that wont be needed like the wires for the coils. I really want to clean up under the hood. So I removed the coils and ignitors and the bracket they where mounted on. While I have the battry out and cleaning up that area I am almost tempted to move the battery to the trunk, to make room for intercooler pipes.

http://infini-fc3s.cyberosity.com/ga...icture+290.jpg

lol dont look at the rats nest in the top of this image.
looks like 20 years worth of dirt and dust under where the coils where mounted.
http://infini-fc3s.cyberosity.com/ga...icture+292.jpg

gotta find a new way to mount the fuse boxes.
http://infini-fc3s.cyberosity.com/ga...icture+294.jpg

mounted the transmission slave today and filled and bleed the line and it works great. one more thing of that list... I can almost stand up strait now.

going to try and knock out as much as i can this week and weekend. Still waiting on parts the coils shipped and heat shield shipped. i hope to get them by the weekend. I think if I can get the coils by the friday I will be able to at least start the car by sunday.

took the main power and ground harness home with me so I can clean it and take most of it apart to keep the just wires I need
http://infini-fc3s.cyberosity.com/ga...icture+291.jpg

this car had been a wreck before I got it. and it drove good but was a little tweeked. My Japanese friends are going to take the body and convert it an electric car. They love the lines of the Cosmo. I had orgingal bought that car just pull the engine out of it and put the 20B into a FC, But after driving it a few times I could not just pull the engine and send the body the scrap yard. So it will get a new lease on life. it has a ton of room under the hood and truck to install batteries. They plan to use a FC 5 speed and get a electric motor and use a rotary adaptor plate. The paint looks good from distance but the roof the car has tuned almost all white. The okinawa sun is killer on clear coats.

87GTR 03-12-11 06:44 AM

well trying to figure out where I am going to mount these coils. I like the stock coils they are in a very clean package. I ordered GM LS/2 Truck coils with the ignitor built in.

http://infini-fc3s.cyberosity.com/ga...icture+306.jpg

found a piece of alum scrap that is the exact length of the rotor housing .... is it fate?

next on the hit list

install the RE Amemiya front pipe and dual dolphin.
built a front pipe from the turbo to the RE front pipe

design a mount for the coils ( lol i been thinking about buying some FD ignitors and running the stock 20b coils I like how compact they are.)
build oil cooler lines
build bracket to mount FC oil cooler
install supra pump
install FD intercooler

need to find a place on the UIM to tap it for brake master vacuum.
re-tap the air temp sensor in the elbow for the haltech ATS

I was going to use the FD single exh but I think for right now I will use the RE duals.

I used a block off plate where the air pump goes to the LIM do I need to block off the air line on the back of the LIM?

coils looks nice. I wish mine where flat on one side to mount them like that.

the an fittings

front iron oil feed to turbo 14mmx1.5 -4
front cover oil 16mm -10
oil filter 18mm -10

mazdatrix has a cool fitting for fc. it is shorter so it does not take up much room.

You didn't get affected by the earthquakes and tsunamis. Car looks good.

heat shield armor. They said it can withstand 1800 F. continuous. I got the 1/2 thick one to do the manifold and down pipe. LOL got tired of my shoes melting in the cosmo. The firewall would get heat soaked and even with air con on your feet are still roasting. So this should help knock down the heat build up.

where I live in Japan, Okinawa was spared from the earth quake. We did get a small tsunami but it arrived right a low tide and did not cause any damage.

well I got good news and bad news.....

the good news is that the FD intercooler is here.

The bad news... it is too wide to fit in there it is 79cm from end tank to end tank. im going to see if I can get a local radator shop to cut about 20 ~ 25 cm off and reweld it. I have never welded alum or I would try it myself.
