Oil Sump

I am trying to mount a 13b 6 port in my 914

I am attempting to make my own oilpan so that I can put a cross member directly under the intermediate housing and bolt into the spot where the original mounts do.

The oil pan is almost a copy of Racing Beats oil baffle plate.... I will create a kicked out sump on the front half of the engine but I don't plan to put the drain hole in the rear... so I don't know how it is gonna work...
anybody know what I am talking about or have any info?

If I could afford a dry sump system I would do that but I can't afford it now.

Thanks,

I wouldn't know, I'm a 14 year old that thinks he knows a lot about cars.

But rotary 914's kick ass. Have fun with it.

can you post a pic of the parts involved/in question?

Mahalo! Bro

If you're going to install a 6port 13B into your 914,,, you don't need a dry sump oil system. All you need is a GSL-SE front cover (4 oil metering lines on OMP) or you can get by with a 12A front cover (but you only got 2 lines off the OMP). And you need an old style 13B oil pan. If you try to mount the engine with the '86 and later mounting holes,, your engine will be too far forward, and the half-shafts and tranny mount won't line up.

Good luck with your project,,

That's how I've seen other 914s do it - use a pre-86 block that has the engine mount on the front cover (just leave your intermediate housing mounts naked). Like '14 said, an SE cover will do, as will a 12A, so pretty much anything before 86 will work.

I hadn't checked this thread in a while. I am not using the 914's factory mounts... I fabbed some further back near to the trailing arm mounts....
I have the mounts set... I just need to decide if I want to do anything about the oil drainage.

thanks all
