It has a 12a rotary motor with a bridge port; the engine was built by Bob Maybell, a well-known rotary mechanic out of Willows CA. Most of the engines he builds end up out at Thunder hill Raceway. The motor doesn't even have 5 hours on it from being lit the first time, but it has been run regularly enough to avoid any problems from sitting. The oil feed has been bypassed and the engine is run on an oil/fuel mix like a two stroke. The carb is a Weber 48 IDA that has been jetted to suit this specific engine. The exhaust is LOUD, Its got a racing beat header that runs a straight pipe to a super trap. Sounds fantastic but the neighbors will be angry. It's also got a new racing puck clutch installed when the engine was built. The body is in all right shape, it was a Pro Rally Car and there is some evidence of that. The rear part of the car would need some attention if it were to achieve show room condition. I have a set of doors, fenders a perfect grill, and extra taillights for parts to go along with the car. It also has an SP front clip, and hood. All the body parts included are from RX3 SP's so if anything they are hard to get a hold of. The interior has racing seats, cage and that's about it. A custom dash with all the gauges (no speedo) necessary for operation. The steering wheel is not aftermarket, its from the SP as well. Aside from the dings in the rear panel the body is straight, and with some effort could make a sharp little SCCA racecar or whatever you feel like doing with it. The cage is welded in and the rear coilovers link into the roll cage and the rear end. To be up to date with current SCCA racing spec. some welding would have to be done on the cage in the rear. Suspension is good and the brakes are front disc and rear drum. It has an early mustang 8-inch rear end with 4:56 gears and welded locker. The 5-spd tranny is from the SP and has a short throw kit in it. The wheels are powder coated white, with gravel tires on it right now. I also have some extra rims and some tires to go with it. It isn't street legal I'm not sure what needs to be done to make it street legal but I'm sure its nothing that can be done overnight. There is a complete SCCA Pro Rally Log book included with the car. |
Yep, the neighbors will hate the exhaust. I have the same problem with my 1/2 bp with 2 Magnaflows, lol. Enjoy the new toy, it's looks like it could be fun, whether it's on the circuit or made street legal.

Sweet ride!
Take a look at the logbook and tell us where is has been run. -billy |
cool car.
|
lol. I remember them gigantic accel yellow coils. Very intimidating.

RX-3's are sexy. 96% of rally cars are sexy, making you the owner sexy by default. Let us know where that beast has been cause i havent seen any rx-3s on any east coast rallys
|
that's sweet! how much did it go for? are you planning to drive it on the streets? hopefully we'll get to see more of it at 7stock.
|
Yes I plan on bringing the car to Sevenstock... somehow. I dont have a rig or a trailer as yet and I dont really wanna flat-tow it either. Although, if I do manage to make it street legal I'll probably get 4mpg which makes driving it to LA an expensive proposition also lol.
I've heard that since this car dosen't dont have a 17 digit VIN and hasn't been registered for over 7 years I can just apply for a new title and claim its a 74 instead of a 77. Any truth to that? I'd like to backdate it to avoid smog. Of course, there are other issues with making it street legal also. Any advice in this regard would be appreciated. As for racing I plan on rallying it next month at Thunderhill on the 18th. I'm in the process of going over the car, evaluating it's race-worthiness and general condition. So far I've cleaned out a huge rats nest and a bunch of spiders. It was sitting for a while. But I'm not complaining I got the deal of a lifetime I think :) |

Nice ride. Plain and simple. The less complicated, the better. Hopefully, you bring it to SSX.

Funny Story about that car.
I have a house in Oroville and the guy that had it happened to live right across the street from some relatives of mine. Before it was even for sale they called and wanted me to buy it so they wouldn't have to hear it anymore. :lol2: I am sure the neighborhood is happy you bought it also. |

Thats really sweet! Good luck with it!

I havent been to Oroville in some time. I took a job in Vegas and it is keeping me busy at the moment. I have my house there and rent it to family so I can keep the cars. I hope to be around a few times a month once I get settled in LV though.

Nice Car! You better keep it longer than the FC I sold you.
