Looks good Arnel. Those SSR's are perfect on your 3. At least you got enough meat under the rear now to put down some of that power you're making:icon_tup:

Looks good Arnel.

Do they even make fat enough tires to put on those rims? You don't see too many 14x10's around.

RX2fan 09-03-08 02:56 PM

Nice job, what you got under the hood?

I used 3 layers of fiberglass strand mat then a layer of weib mat on top with epoxy resin. its very duralble and light weight also oil and gas resistance. I'll post some pictures of the process later on. Its kinda of a mess to do but ifs worth it.

for those who wants to give this a try, here's what you'll need to shape the flares.

floral foam. you can get them at your local arts store.
glue gun
dust mask
sand paper
and a knife.

And for the fiber glass and resin, you can find all the stuff you need here.
http://www.fibreglast.com/
I use the vinyl ester resin this comes with the hardener.
one roll of strand mat they come in several weight so its up to you which one you use. and weave fiber glass...again they come in several weight so choose the one you like.

here's the first step installing the floral foams and shaping the flares. Now I can only upload several pictures so I will show the next step on the next post.

I guess it would help if I actually up load some pictures:wallbash:

Now maybe I shouldn't have done this, at this point I wanted to at least make one extra set of flares. So I've I got creative and put some dry wall mud on top of the foams I then prime and paint it and sprayed with a release agent hoping it would come off easy and I can make another. Well not so easy the release agent didn't work as plan, it actually stuck to the mold and wouldn't come off. Notice when I took them off it actually peeled my $99.99 paint job:scratch: So only one set are made. :sadwavey:

The second picture is how it look after the 3 layer of strand mat. the last two pictures are after the last layer of woven fiber glass is installed and cured. Looks like shit... as you can see I have a lot of sanding and re shaping to do. What a mess I've made

Siraniko 09-04-08 09:28 AM

Chad lots of cutting on the front and rear fender. you can see from the front fender how much I cut. The rear require cutting a lot more and welding a sheet metal for the wheel well. The car is low and the wheels are wide I mean wide.

RotorRican 09-05-08 07:33 AM

Nice work man,
it takes alots of patience to end up with your results, like Wacky said,
thanks for the pictures!

Meola 09-05-08 03:17 PM

Those are some badass fender flares dude. I like how it turned out, shows that a little time and persistance always reaps the rewards!

MadChad 09-05-08 10:40 PM
