Volvo 343 Rotary Spaceframe Racer
Here is my latest project... Got hold of an old piece of Scandinavian motorsport-history last summer, and have spent this Winter bringing it back to life. And most important: gave it the Rotary-treatment! Picked up the rolling shell of this spaceframed ex-Castrol-Cup 1977 Volvo 343 from outside(!) a barn, where it had sat for a couple of hard, snowy Winters. I live in Norway! Needless to say...it craved some attention!! Some hundreds of hours later I'm finally ready for the first track-practice, and I'm really looking forward to test this old, light and WIDE lady!
Adopted the engine from the RWD Austin Mini I have written about on this forum for a couple of years, a 13b REW, and mated it to a FD tranny, hooked up the ECU and presto...
I have actually converted the engine to a semi-dry-sump setup, but that is about the only change,,apart from the beefier gearbox. Adaptronic ECU, Precision 6066 single turbo, water/meth. aux injection, 4x850cc injectors, 1,3 bar boost, giving 405whp.,
Oh.....the car is not heavier than 900kg, so I don't think I lack Power!

Just made it out of the garage after the Winter, so no videos yet...sorry! I am going to a couple of track-sessions in april, so hopefully we'll be able to do some filming! This is what the car looked like when I got it to its new and loving home...bought a BIG can of elbow-grease the following day!
