My latest Rx5 (longtime project)

I got this car in 2009 and it has been sitting in my garage all the time collecting dust....
It has been off the road since 1985 so I thought is would be a good time to start restoring it 30 years after it was put to sleep!

Step 1 was to pull the engine out.

There is a album on Facebook that can be viewed even if you are not a member!

I also did some playing around with a video.

As you probably know if you like the Rx5 Aaron is the guy to look at and he has been a big inspiration :)

Looks like a great project, can't wait to see the end result! I'm hoping to find a 3 sometime in the future to restore.

Best part of this is the help you are getting with the project and the knowledge your helper is gaining...the next generation of rotor head/ car nut is developing.

Good job guys, keep up the good work

I'm still not sure about what to do with this car.
Option one is a stock restoration, but I already got an Rx5 in full stock mode.
Option two is just a manual conversion and a lightly tuned engine and maybe some new wheels.

And then there is of course the full mod thing but I don'r really have money for that.. :)

Jason > We need more rotorheads! I get three so if I miss the goal with the oldest I have two more tries!

I finally edited the last part of the removal.
Next step is to clean and disassemble it.
Not sure when I have the time to do that but at least we have got it out!

I'll try to take it apart quite soon. :)

Next step on the car will be to take the breaks apart.
I've got new front calipers but I hope I can use the rear calipers.
Anyone know if there are sealkits for the Rx5 rearbreaks?

Thanks for the encouragement!
You always hope that you will be able to share a hobby with your kids.
Does not really matter if you work on cars or something else.
I used to compete with Rc-buggy's long time ago. We might start doing that again ;)

There is anot her thing I've been thinking about when I have been running around in the Rx5.
I used to have a 73 Rx3 and i almost bought one again.
The Rx5 is such a big improvement over cars that were made only a few years earlier.
The Rx3 is, let's face it, not very plesent to take long trips in.
The Rx5 just is. It must have been fantastic when it was new!

That's all for now :)
