That's really cool. I think it's the best looking Mazda racer. Shame the plug was pulled just as it was getting competitive.
The smooth body shows it's an early version.
By the end of the 1992 season the RX-792P gained lots of vents and gills because of early overheating issues and the bodywork catching on fire.

My IMSA GTP book said they couldn't compete in 1993 because they didn't have an engine from Mazda.
So is this R26B a spare, one of the raced engines rebuilt later, or one separate from the GTP program altogether?
edit: also the engine in the ad looks like it's missing the variable velocity stacks. There are usually what look like power window motors on top.
