How to ID early 12A?

I'm looking for a 73-74 12A to stuff in my RX-3. Anybody got one to part with? Anyone know how to positively ID one?

Thanks
Eddie

I had one until about a month ago - I gave it away to Gregs81.

You can positively one by the fact that it has two distributors . . .

I race an ITA RX-3 in SCCA SEDIV events. Early last season, the bell housing bolts backed out during an event, and the rear plate of the motor developed a small crack before we got the bolts retorqued. Later in the season the crack grew. As I am getting ready to go to my first 04 race, I decided to pull the engine to see how bad the crack really was. Well, the upper passenger side section of the rear plate to bell housing mounting tap came out as a separate piece :(

Welding is not an option, and this is an early 73-74(larger ports) 12A. So, I can either find an early rear plate to replace this one, or I could buy a whole new motor, if I could find an early one.

Thanks
Eddie

I will check back with you. I hope the stock oriignal motor that my buddy pulled out of the RX-3 is still at the shop. Otherwise, u can also use the 79-83 plates as they have big ports too. Where u located?

I'm in north Alabama. Please let me know what you find. Thanks for the tip about 79-83 rear plate, didn't realize they had the large ports! In fact, I think I may have one of those in the junkpile in the garage - time to scrounge.....

BTW-where in socal are you, I used to live off Lincoln in A'heim :)

Thanks
Eddie
