I may be wrong, but I think you can use a 79/80 RX7 or certain years of GLC slave cylinders. I'm sure someone who knows for sure will chime in soon.

I bolted up a FC slave to the RX2 tranny, just made a new hard line from master cylinder to clutch hose.

What Do U Mean Fc ??

maxg765 03-11-07 10:59 AM

Here is what I found so far

Hello
I asked around, here is what I found so far:
"I might have a slave cylinder but it would be used. I will look. I think they are up in my attic. This would be for the 12A twin distributor?? They are different than RX3 or 4. They mount on the underside-side of the bell housing instead of on the top. I will see."
Its from a guy in I think Portland, Or.

Hello,

I gave him your email. Assuming he has it and its a good one he will contact you. I don't know him personally and have yet to get any parts from him (i am just now in the process of getting my list to him) but he seems to know what he's talking about and trust worthy with a good ebay rep on his feedback. He knows a lot about all old school rotary's. I will be ordering stuff from him in the next week or so.

slave cylinder

the best way i found is buy slave cylinder for 85 rx7 and then go get the steel line from the 85 rx7 and cut the fitting off one side of the new 85 line then take the old line from the rx2 off and cut the line so that you could remove old fitting then get the new fitting from the 85 rx7 slide it on the rx2 line and get it flared and you never have to go thru that problem again and now you can just go to any auto parts and order an 85 rx7 slave cylinder, **** ( steel line meaning the brake line that goes to the clutch resovoir to the slave cylinder, cut the side that goes to the slave cylinder*** hope that helps!!!

While your planing on trying them all, I found the best solution is to borrow my time machine, go back in time and pick yourself up a brand new RX2 [ like I did for my RX4 :) ]......

I'm no mechanic by any means and depending on how original your car is or you want to keep it what jmefoxx said makes some sense to me.

I am just curious are these parts just not available anywhere as OEM or reproduction/rebuilt, not even over seas? Or is this a mater of budget? I ask because I am new to vintage rotary Mazda'a and wonder if I will come to the same impass with mine when the time comes. SHould I look for these parts now and stock up?

Did the guy for the used item email you?

Hello,

I only gave him your email last night. I am sure he will email if he has it and its worthy of a reinstall. He should be emailing me today or night for RX4 parts so I will ask him.

Have you tried places like Philsrotary and others like it? I never have as nothing has broken on my car, yet. There is another place that is also good but I can't recall the name but I am sure if you post a thread for a supplier alternative to phils you'll get a few hits.

Regards

Max

PS I don't really have a time machine:)

eBay has one currently $36

Did you see this on eBay, I was under the inprssion that the RX3 cylinder would not fit but it does say 1973 RX3 only so maybe the first year it used the same part.

Now I feel like an ass. I did not even realize that it was an auction that has ended. I simply did a search on google for "RX2 Slave Cylinder for sale" and that was one of the links. Try that every few days both on google and yahoo. Eventually it will come again. I am stil waiting for the reply from the guy in Or. I will send him that picture.

Sorry, and I thought I found you one.

Oh man, that brings back nightmares. Heh, I used to have a 71 Mazda 1200 that had a slave very similar to that one. Never did find one, I had to adapt something else to fit. I believe what we did was make a couple "L" brackets so that a 79/80 or RX3 cylinder would fit. Didn't really look pretty, but it worked.

You may try just a slave cylinder rebuild kit, if you can find one. They also may still be available in AUS.

I may know someone with a stock used one, but it's a longshot.
