help me with my REPU
im trying to get the dash pad and the metal part behind it off. i took the screws out of the top. and the ones under the front edge of the dash pad. but it doesn't even seem loose:scratch: if anyone could help me out i would appreciate it. i just dont want to break anything as i know stuff is hard to find for these things.
thanks in advance SOdrifter:) |
Don't quote me but I think there is a screw under the dash in the middle that is a toal Beeoch to get to.

repu dash
you have to take off the metal part ,and then the pad...
the metal parts has a few screws along the front windshield rubber , then you have to pop the rear part with a screw driver.....when you take off the metal you will see the screws holding the pad down, there is a 10mm nut on each of the corners where it curves, and there is a few push type fasteners, you have to take off the speedo to get to it...... here is a pic of my repu.... http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j2...rgerrx7008.jpg |
best looking REPU in Socal homie!!!
|
sweet, thanks fellas:biggrin:
it was the screws at the base of the windshield i was overlooking. my window is real dusty and i couldnt see them. got it off now though:icon_tup: i'll post pics of my repu tomorrow. its not pretty, but its a find for 200$ awesome truck, HOOKS ROTARY:drool1: no offence but those WANKELHOLICS banners need to be curved slightly upward in the design. this will make them appear straight across the windshield. i only say this because i do vinyl work on the side and have run into this problem:wallbash: thanks again:) |

im trying to see if my old repu will run. it has sat for 10+ years. i didn't have spark and i got that fixed. new cap, rotor, points and condensors, plugs and taylor wires( i had the wires laying around) i dont have a way to test the compression but i took out the leading plugs and all the compression cycles sound strong and the same. i was told to pull it in second at about 25mph and see if it fires up that way.any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
the old couple i bought it from told me they used to go to the dump with it about once a month. one day it died on the way back and so they parked and bought a new truck:wallbash: :icon_no2: when i got it there was no spark and the points looked like shit. im hoping this is why it quit. this is the cleanest old motor i have ever seen. not a drop of oil leaking. and no greasy build up anywhere. + i want to ditch my air pump, what do i have to do to make it right? can i still use the stock carb. and exh. mani. or do i have to upgrade? man your truck is clean HOOKS! i cant stop lookin at it. |
thanks ,so drifter......
I say your best bet is trash that points dizzy and swap in a electronic dizzy out of a rx7 .....and yes you could pull it to try and pop start it .... |
1st gen dizzy is the way to go, no points or condensors to mess with.
and you can squirt a LITTLE 2 stroke oil down the carb and turn over by hand to help with compression and pre-lube it. heating the plugs in a toaster oven may help too. |
LISTEN to Drivefast and Hooks...getcha an 84/85 dizzy and slap in there, you won't be sorry. You'll have her running in no time. In case you need more info on those trucks check out MAZDAREPU.COM if you haven't already. Also, there's still carb rebuild kits to be had from napa if needed later.
|
thanks a ton guys, i have checked out MAZDAREPU.COM. lots of good info there. i heard about the 1st gen distributor. but i just wasnt sure how beneficial it was.
so i guess when i get payed this week i will get that done. im pretty sure the carb could use a rebuild after sitting for ten years. guess im gonna have to hit up napa too. does anyone have the part # for the rebuild kit? it would save me a ton of headache trying to explain to the lame parts guy what my truck is:wallbash: |
carb rebuild kit - just go to napaonline.com and search it. you can even have it delivered to home.
|
That number should be on the mazdarepu site somewhere..I think that's where I found it. I also may have it written down in my book, if I do I'll post it up for ya.
I may order an extra, I'm betting they ain't making many more of those hitachi rebuild kits much longer. Found it, the kit is CRB 21211, it's around $18. You'll also want to order CRB24117, the secondary throttle diaphragm, it's pretty cheap, as I remember, maybe $10. They've also got fuel filters, pumps, etc. Never used those, though. They seem to be they only source I know of that have a complete kit for our carbs. Nice sheet inside the box that shows the breakdown, too. You'll have fun. Watch those damn little bearings......:) |
thanks mang, im on it!:)
|
just rebuilt my carb
w/ a napa kit... not bad. if you've read other threads on this subject, can't stress how important it is to clean out everything. if you follow the instructions and set the floats correct (if they even needed adjusting), it should fire right up.
i was pleasantly surprised and it worked out really well. |
well i got the dist. what else do i need to make this thing work? do i need the coils too? or can i run the stock ones?
|
well i decided to block off the air pump.
and im gonna put a holley on it and delete the OMP to run premix it just seems easier still need help with the dist. swap what do i need as far as parts? PLEASE HELP? |
