fuel injected 13b wiring in VW beetle

hey im new to the rx7 world but im doing a rotary conversion in my 72 super beetle but i want to retain the fuel injection i was just wondering if anyone has a guide on wiring a 87 13b in a nother vehicle without a stand alone ems i dont need anymore than stock horsepower so i think the ems like haltech or megasquirt would be a waste unless its impossible to wire with factory components

I wish I could help you. I put an '86-'88 13B in my baja but I got by using a carb and dizzy from a 1st gen RX-7. No wiring nightmares for me.

What you ask can be accomplsihed, but usually not quickly.

thanks for the reply i know it will be difficult but i want to see it work i hope some one has done it in like a 1st gen or somthing and will have some enlightenment like oh you only need 13 of the 40 wires to make it work . maybe not a realistic request but ill get it done it just might take a lot longer to save $$$ to get an ems anyways

just use the stock ecu for the engine used.

i know to use the stock ecu i am trying to whittle down the factory harnesses it seems there are like 3 different harnesses the engine harness the power and relay harness and the interior body harness i have the complete 87 na car but i dont want to install 3 huge harnesses in a very small area i have in the vw i just need to know what is a neccesity also i was told that i have to keep the factory gauges?? not sure about that but old wiring diagrams are hard to follow somtimes

Hi.

Welcome to Rotary beetles!

I wouls uggest that you take the 87na harness ,and fisically map out the wiring on the floor. This will take some time, but will be worth it.Check every wire, and see if it will be needed or not.Mating the rx7 harness to the beetle harness will be the easy part!

Ps: Do you have some extra cash to perhaps ditch the stock ecu,and wiring, and go for a standalone?

Ps:Iam sending the pm reply now
