fuel cell/fender mount filler neck
Im thinking of replacing the RX-3 stock fuel tank with a RCI fuel cell (link RCI Aluminum Fuel Cells 2161A - SummitRacing.com). I chose this as it can be mounted on the original fuel tank location and size wise, they are similar. Mounting it is a piece of cake; however, I'm not sure what can be done (in a safe manner) to extend the filler neck to quarter panel (RX-3 stock gas filler location). If this is not an ideal fuel cel, feel free to school me. thanks

I reviewed and studied every fuel cell available out there. The one between the frame (stock location) is the safest one. Have you ever seen a picture of a 510 that got sandwich? Its not a nice sight.

here are some more pics of the fuel cell and surge tank. since their is no foam in the tank, the gas does splash out a little on hard turms, but the surge tank prevents me from sucking up any air in the fuel pump. it is a jegs tank, everything else was done at lucky7

That looks really good . Why didn't you put he foam back in ? And is your fuel outlet on the bottom of the tank?

Im still looking at other options as the lack of sump on a RCI is a draw back IMHO but it would be nice to find something similar to it so I can still have a trunk space.

aeromotive is making the new retro in tank fuel pump , you use the original tank (rx3) and a high psi in tank fuel pump . Summit part #AEI-18688 its 550.00 . It's a little expensive but when you factor in a fuel cell, surge tank and 2 fuel pumps it's not bad . I am using this set up on my rx2 turbo because I want to use the stock tank and sender and I don't have to hear the after market fuel pump noise .

After almost 30 years with rotaries, my ears are immune to loud exhaust and hum from the fuel pump. Sad but true lol
