Fd transplant into a rx-3

Hi, I have an fd motor going into my rx3 and i need some advice. Can i use the original mounting points from the fd and just modify my cross-member? Or should i use a 85 GSL SE front cover and oil pan? I know that using the GSL parts will work but i don't know if i can use the ignition trigger and water pump from the the fd? I also know useing the front mount limits my room for a intercooler. Any advice or direction would be appreciated.

Your best bet is change the front cover on the motor and mount it conventionally in thr RX3. The front mount oil cooler and intercooler should not be a problem. There is space, but you will need to get creative with fabbing mounts and brackets and such.

you COULD use the FD mounting system AND use the GSL-SE front cover and oil pan. So the engine is more solidly mounted than just at the front and supported by the transmission.

For the FD mounts you'd need to fabricate a way for them to mount to the chassis. Might have to weld something on the frame rails for that
