FC or FD sub frame?
 

After a ton of thinking, I'm planning to swap a rotary into my daily 1981 Toyota Corolla (Yes its RWD)
My real question atm is if I should use the FC sub frame or the FD subframe (I have both right now with me)

Ignoring the engine atm because I will be building the engine according to whatever subframe I use. I do plan on keeping it NA for a side draft setup.

I just want to know what others feel about this idea as the current suspension is just not nice at all to drive every day imo. It feels too scary on the highway due to the pre rack and pinion setup lol

It really matters? The only 2 things i can think of that i would want to know is which one is beefier between the 2, and weight differences, course i would go safety over weight

I would say FD since it had a little bit better front suspension setup.

Have you checked frame width? Overall width of the wheel base? Have you checked steering column angle/fitment for the rack and pinion? Are you prepared to cut the frame rails? These will be big hurdles.

This is the problem when trying to do this in an rx2 which is very similar to the 81 Corolla in front end dimensions.

If you must choose one, choose the FC as a starting point.

the FD is overall a better engine and subframe choice, it however is a bit more work.

Lots of aftermarket support for front suspension setups/steering for corollas and starlets.No need to swap a subframe for a engine swap.

I dont remember what year toyota tercel but back in the day it was a very popular and cheap swap to use all the steering components of the toyota tercel on starlets and corollas/power steering racks/tie rod end/pump ect ect to have a more nicer steering setup.

I had a starlet like 20 years ago that had the swap sadly i dont remember exactly what year model was used for sure.
