Dual Oil Coolers???

I have a 12A currently being put in my Rail Buggy, I has the top mounted oil cooler with the radiator lines, I have from a junk yard the long, below the radiator oil cooler. Question is can you use both at the same time? I was thinking of putting the larger one inline between the original and the block. Any forseeable problems or better ideas?

I don't think it's possible to use both coolers at the same time.

Well actually I dont see why not. I am not sure why you would need two, but you could just set them up in sequence if you had to. Of course I have no idea about pressure issues (ie enough pressure to go through both, but I dont think that would be a problem)

That is what I am wondering Madman, would the oil pump be enough to push the oil through both.

Yes, it can and has been done. You would want to use a "Y" junction to the two coolers. You will see to much pressure drop other wise.

Y junction? At the point where the hose comes from the front of the block? Wouldn't that basically give you a "path of least resistance" type scenario. If the oil has to have more pressure exerted on it to go through the larger cooler which would be mounted behind the engine wouldn't it just go through the other cooler and not even bother with the larger one?

Ok.. I re-read your post. I thought you were talking of running two front mount type oil coolers. I would remove the one under the filter housing and get a front mount with the two lines. The coolant type oil cooler was a mistake by Mazda.

Does it not work it just not well? Would it be more beneficial to leave it on and run the two or remove it and run just the one big one?

It does real well to heat up your coolant :)

You could leave it and add a front mount. It won't bother the oil pump. It has to pump it to the filter anyways. I would pull it off and add one of those gauge adaptor blocks.

Gauge adapter blocks? Elaborate please.

It is a part that goes under the oil filter housing that allows you to install aftermarket gauges for oil temp and pressure.
