Does anyone know??

Hey guys im brand new to the site! What I have is a 1974 Mazda Rotory Wagon... Pretty much perfect condition. interior exterior.. the only thing is it does not run.. It has spark but no gas.. it has been sitting for a long time with old gas in the carb. Now for my question what would be best to do with this. I love this car it looks cool and I love it but I just dont know if I should scrap it, sell it or keep it and keep it covered in a barn and save it... Does anyone know anything about these?????? any help would be great!! Thanks, Kyle

take the carb off and get some carb cleaner. Clean it out and put it back together. Get all the gas out of the tank using a hose and then put new gas in. You might have to drop the tank to properly clean it out. After sitting for a while gas can look pretty bad. I bought a ninja off a guy that sat for years. I cleaned out gas and I saw rocks lol. I did the same thing with the carb on the ninja and it run like a champ.

Once you have the fuel system flushed and cleaned, along with a new fuel filter of course, and keep a spare or 2 on hand, you may need to replace the fuel pump too. Before starting or even cranking it over, I would change the oil and filter, flush the cooling system and pour some motor oil down the carb and turn the engine over by hand to lube the apex seals and housings. Good luck with it, I'd love to have a wagon.

If you do put motor oil down the carb to lube the seals, pull the spark plugs first. It will save you from having to clean the oil off after ward. Also you may want to replace the spark plugs if they don't all match. My rx-2 had 4 different plugs when I got it and I have heard this can throw the engine slightly out of balance becouse there may be stronger or weaker spark in one combustion cycle than in another (not sure I am using the right words but hopefully you know what I mean). If it's been sitting more than 5 years I would play it safe and just rebuild the engine and carb first. Is this an rx-4 or rx-3? Well whatever you do, don't crush and if it's realy that nice don't part it out(you can get better money for it if it's complete and running).
