Does anyone Daily Drive their old school rotary?
Does anyone here with an old rotary use it as a daily driver? I found a good condition rx-4 and was thinking about getting it. Other than it being a little thirsty with gas consumption and the fact that it is 40 years old and problems will arise. What would stop you guys from dallying? Is it just impractical?

Parts are simply too hard to find. A minor fender bender would be the end as no replacement parts. Cars are not that safe either. A forty year old car simply can't brake, or handle very well in fast modern traffic situations. An old car is not reliable enough for daily duty. Buy the RX4 but keep it in the garage and get yourself a used Kia for daily driver.

I daily drove my Repu for many years it was a blast but everything works in my Repu and i have heat which most disregard when restoring,, it's even Lowered and has a weber but still never had a problem. You just have to watch where you park it I never park next to anyone to keep door dings away and a kill switch.

I use to use my hondas as my daily's but lately I find myself spending more time commuting in my GLC and miata than anything...I'm sure the first snowfall in NYC will cure this addiction!

I drove my RX2 84 miles almost 5 days a week in the early 2000's, with a street ported 13b and weber set up. At the time, I worked 2nd shift, so pretty much missed all the horrible traffic. I absolutely loved driving it, gas consumption was high, that would most likely stop me from driving it 5 days a week, gas is 4x more expensive than then....

I daily drove an RX-2 everyday including city and highway driving. I never had problems from a reliability stand point - and my daily commute was a blast. As you can imagine it was in a constant state of maintenance. I agree with xp882 - The biggest issue was parking it safely. Back home (NZ) I you left a old school rotary unattended you could just about guarantee some low life would try and steal it or at least mine some parts. I always parked mine where I could see it from my desk.

When the RX2 is not on the rack, It splits driving duties between the Abarth and the Cummins
