Can you put a rotary engine in a MR2?
 

Would it be possible to put a rotary engine in a MkII MR2 for a resonabel prise. and is it even possible?
One more question how high can a rotary engin safely Rev.

Well, anything is possible if you have money. A friend of mine is building a 13b 6 port Subaru 360.

Anyways, if I remember right, it's been done. Do a search or something.

If you can find a tranny that will fit.

What is an RX2 im kinda new to the whole Rotary engine thing.

This is the succession of the Rotary models.

Model (Engine, layout, drivetrain)

R100 (12a, coupe, RWD)
R130 Luce (13a, coupe, FWD, never released in the States)
RX2 (12a, coupe/sedan/wagon, RWD)
RX3 (12a, coupe/sedan/wagon, RWD)
RX4 (13b, coupe/sedan/wagon, RWD)
RX5 Cosmo (13b, coupe, RWD)
REPU (Rotary Engine Pick Up, 13b, RWD)
RX7 (13b, coupe, RWD)
RX8 (RENESIS, sedan/coupe hybrid, RWD)

I don't know the exact model years for each one, but the R100/R130 were made in the late sixties, the RX2/RX3/RX4/REPU all through the seventies, with the first generation RX7 debuting in the late seventies. In the eighties, the RX5 Cosmo came out along with the second generation RX7. In the nineties the third generation RX7 was made and this year the RX8 debuted.

actually ... yes :)

i know some of them were not available in the US, but the information i've been gathering is sketchy at best thus far (i'm still researching though)

anyway ... where do the Cosmo's fit in to all of these? you mentioned the Rx-5, but what about the 110S (the only confirmed year i have for it is 1968 - was that the only year?) also ... what about the others? the HB? the JC? any more?

oh yeah ... and how selfish of me to hijack the thread.

on the MR2-thing, can it be done ... of course. however, i agree that mating the engine to a transaxle will probably be a big issue. however, i think adequate cooling may be another issue because i'm trying to picture where you'd mount the oil cooler to get enough air. what rotary setup are you considering? turbo or N/A? i'm asking because using the beehive may be an alternative (though i prefer the air-type coolers) depending on how much power you plan to run.

reasonable is a relative term ... just suffice it know that it will not be the cheapest engine swap. :D
