Still in Nj waiting its turn at IRP - No real progress just yet but the "small upgrades" was a lie. Hopefully theres more to share over the coming months - Its semi-sad on how long i've owned it vs. actually driving it.

You realize youre talking to other rotary project owners right?

tldr - Decided to put a 20B in, had it built and decided I didn't want to undo some air suspension stuff/didn't fit as neatly as I wanted. Bought a second REPU and mounted it mid engine. Green truck went back to where it started and is sitting ATM until i figure out the best engine to go with - irony.

Story Time:
So quick recap - I had it bagged and drove it a bit in 2015. Around the same time got a job offer and moved out west. Didn't really need a car in the city and I shipped the girlfriend's/now fiance's car out here, so it sat and for awhile. It sat for a few years and with finally settling into our new city, i was getting bored. I wanted/needed to get back to working on a project.

Dove right back into the REPU again and started to kick around possible ideas to update the motor. Tossed around a ton of ideas, anything from leaving it as is with a little refresh, going efi on the stock engine, 13bt or even an REW. Somehow I convinced myself that a 20B would be the only option and so the search began. You'll notice it snowballs into the craziness of another project - Ill start another thread at some point.

Enter in the combination of IRP and rx7 club. Found a d series engine and decided to over build the thing - Solid dowels, over-sized studs etc. etc. I skip a year or so - and as I briefly mentioned, was fairly tight but ultimately felt that I would be completely undoing what I had previously paid for to upgrade everything to handle the 20B. That felt like a complete disservice and so I decided to get another chassis to use the 3 rotor. Ultimately, the best decision was somehow finding another REPU, building a tube frame chassis and mid mounting it -Yes completely reasonable. Anyway, I think this catches up the green REPU until I figure out the engine for it again and reallocate funds away from the blue REPU.

Decided to cerakote the engine a custom color. Made more sense to me than powdercoating for a few reasons.

Great update

I realize that this is an old thread, but if possible, could you post some pictures of the rear suspension with the body on? I'm curious if you had to make any cuts to the bed.

Its rather large hole between the inner fenders to accommodate the frame notch and the axle when aired out. Its possible to not cut the bed but id argue its not worth the time going that route.
