4th gen. RX7 at this year's...

What do you guys think?

Is mazda going to show their 4th. generation RX7 concept on this years Tokyo Motor Show in October? I mean, this is the time to show it if they made anything so far or not.

OldManSe7en 08-16-03 09:05 PM

hmm i dunno, becuase if they start confirming stuff about the 4th gen...then it might hurt their rx8 sells cuz people gonna back off n go like i wanna wait n see how the 4th gen...maybe they'll hold off to get some rx8 sells up?

-Q

jus my 2 cents

Haris 08-16-03 10:01 PM

Well I've been on rx8forums and majority of buyers are buying RX8 for rotary engine and 4 seats. So 2 seats would probably not change their minds.

OldManSe7en 08-16-03 11:11 PM

yeah? i guess so...but there probably a lot that are jus buying it cuz its the new rotary...n the younger buyers will still try for the rx7 over the rx8 i guesS? i dunno we'll see how it goes...i hope they unveil some ish tho.

They probable will wait untill the RX8 proves very reliable. They won't want to risk anything anymore this time, I guess. I hope the new Seven will come some day...

guys i have bad news i would much rather c a 4th gen rx-7 than a 4 door rx-8 but they stoped making the rx-7 in 2002 the last one was cald the finalli or something like that :(

The FD Rx-7 was made from Oct-91 to Aug-02.

The run-out version was called the "Spirit-R" of which 1500 where produced

I believe they made the renesis found in RX8 in about 1995, so 8 years would give them pretty long time to test reliability and other issues.

OldManSe7en 08-19-03 07:10 AM

well from what i've heard/read the rensis isnt even living up to expectations..dynoing at like sub 200 hp...so i guess they better take care of that before they try to pitch the rx7 based on a rensis platform...n yes the FD stopped in 02 dont mean they cant make a new generation...hell they got the new 350Z's again...they can bring back anything they want.

krackerx7 08-19-03 07:24 AM

yah go check out the rx8 forum there's a problem with the ECU running to rich or some thing like that people have called mazda and mazda knows theres a problem but have yet to respond with any offical answer

SiKoPaThX 08-19-03 10:12 AM

I saw a cg picture in eeither road and track or motor trend last month of the possible 2006 rx7 and of a mazdaspeed mx-5 based on the rx8 platform with a renesis.....i think its quite possible the way they see how profitable bringing cars like the z back can be....everyone in miami drives one.

OldManSe7en 08-19-03 04:12 PM

yeah i saw those pics...

Man the people who buy the rx8s are not racing hooligans. Is there anyone here seriously willing to pay for an rx8 that eats more petrol than it already does and has to be serviced more often.
I dont think so
People are buying this car for its practicality and thats why its selling well.

I would if it was a two seater and had a turbo.

OldManSe7en 08-20-03 11:20 PM

i dunno im jus saying a lot of them are buying it cuz its the first rotary in US in years....so some of them will opt for a rx7 if given the opition.
