323 Drag car PR style, in NZ
well the 323 hatch has been disected and the build begins.
the car will sit as you see it in the dummy pics. The car will have a similr look body style and paint to some cars in PR, although I plan to convert the car to be what I call an RX3 hatch, but the rules here may not allow this Will run a 20b single turbo and eventualy will be PP (if not straight away). My Brother Brent who part owns the car also was involved with the build of the engine for the Major League RX8 so the engine will never be underpowered :) Full tube frame to be made, at this stage its expected to be chromoly but we may go to steel as the car will be underwieght even with steel. The intention is to run a GForce 5 speed. http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y17...r/100_0171.jpg this is how the car will sit :D http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y17...r/100_0170.jpg wheres it gone??? http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y17...r/100_0169.jpg its going to be a very short diff! here is a pic of the front struts, Art Morrisson (I think thats the name?) wilwwod discs and calipers, 4 pots will be put on the rear and singles will be used on the front, along with a parashute. http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y17...r/100_0226.jpg http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y17...r/100_0225.jpg diff will be running 40 spline gun drilled axels, full spool etc chromoly tube frame lightweight drag front struts and brakes 20B (single turbo at this stage) wheels are 15x12 convo pros http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y17...%20car/one.jpg 40 spline gun drilled axels for the 323, ont break these puppies http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y17...%20car/all.jpg they are bloody short, the longer axels are 31 spline axles for the missus s1, shouldnt break these either, S1 is running a posi track lsd, 323, full spool the diff housing is done :) its a work of art thats for sure fully braced 9" and 40 spline axels, now just need the spool and other good bits http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y17...20car/dff3.jpg http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y17...20car/dff2.jpg http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y17...20car/dff1.jpg at lease we can now put the wheels on and push the diff around we are getting the chromoly/steel??? in the next week or so then the chassis build can begin. |
Looking good darryl, when do you exspect it to be running?
|
hmmm, money tree should be floering at xmas, brent should have finished a few jobs by xmas, hmmm not sure lol
Well hopefully we can get on to the chassis soon. I have bought a tig welder so Brent can do some work on Sheryls car and get started on the 323 at home as he is moving into a place this weekend with a good garage. By the end of this coming season was the plan, but timeframes always go out the window |
It would be good to see it going in the next 12 months
|
I hope so, but I have put sheryls car, being a road car and something we have wanted going for a long time as a priority. Was juts about to order a brand new blower then the NZ$$ dropped like a sack of spuds so holding out lol
about to buy IC, radiator, puel system, suspension, you name it so then its just a matter of fabrication. Once the chassis material is bought, we dont realy need anything else to get the chassis built, once thats done it just a matter of buying all the expensive parts lol |
I have seen some of those built in PR. Lots of work to get there.
I did something similar with a Mini. Good luck guys. http://gruops.msn.com/winztek. |
