Exhaust is complete apart from one hanger. The exhaust tip is a slip fit with a u-bolt clamp, having it pointing down at the road should help a little bit for noise. Also the tip can be adjusted in a couple of minutes to point away from noise meters at racetracks if required. I have added some heat shield tape around the drivers footwell area and also heat wrapped the exhaust in that area.

It started today! after lots of fumbling my way through the ecu setup and mapping I got the engine started. Only been run at idle so far. Everything looks good, no leaks. It's also super loud, just about requires earmuffs at idle. I took a short video, quality is a bit average as I was running around checking everything on the car.

Better video uploaded to YouTube today. Takes a while to start as its a very rough tune at the moment. Revving up to 3500rpm, the engine free revs so much faster than I thought it would. The throttle is extremely responsive. It sounds just like a Mazda 787b, So I think I got the header lengths fairly close to what Mazda used. The microphone on my cellphone really didn't like taking this video

Thanks guys, its great to finally hear it run after so much work i've put into it. I have fixed the clutch issues by removing the return spring from the throwout bearing. Now I'm waiting on an AIM MXS strada digital dash. That will need a bit of wiring then the car will be ready for dyno tuning. Can't wait to hear it at 10000rpm.

Thanks Stu, you're more than welcome to come and check the car out next time you're down in Christchurch.

I drove the car for the first time today, just from the hoist back to the shed. clutch needs a bit more bleeding but the car drives ok. the steering is nice and light considering I removed the the p/s pump. The front end is a bit low, the tyres rub on the guards at full lock so need to adjust the coilovers.

Made a new gear lever and shift ****. The golf ball keep cracking around the threads and the aluminium shift lever had too much flex so the new one is steel. Wired in a Dakota Digital speed adapter so the Ecu can read the high frequency from an abs sensor. Also wired in a ohm to 0-5v adapter for the fuel level to display on the dash.

A fire suppression system arrived which I am plumbing in now. It's a 4.0l bottle and has 3 nozzles for the cabin and 3 for the engine bay. This will allow a bit more time for the fire marshals to get to the car if it catches fire.

Im still waiting on the digital dash. I have finished the fire extinguisher install, just had to make a few brackets for the bottle and some of the nozzles.

The alternators voltage regulator died and was outputting 17 volts. Lucky nothing got fried. The alternator is fixed now.

Purchased another Cosmo, this one is just for parts. Was originally a 20b. No engine or transmission, apparently was sitting at the auto wreckers for over 10 years!

The final touch for the 4 rotor will be a replica of the original 3 ROTOR RE badge, it will just say 4 ROTOR RE instead. The original badges are no longer available from Mazda so I will be making my own from pewter. I made a mold from silicone and had a go at making a cast the other night. Not too bad for the first try.

Also made another purchase, a 1971 Mazda R100. It's in Colorado at the moment!

Congratulations on getting it started. I've been watching your journey all this time, but have refrained from comment thus far. I'm not sure I have the words to describe my admiration of your skills. The car, as a product or result, is great, but I enjoyed watching the process far more. All in all, this has been fabulous.

Also, congratulations on the R100 as well. I can't wait to see what happens there.
