2012 Rx-7 FE3S...
We all know about the 16x 1.6L Rotary Engine with it's direct injection, aluminum side housings, 300hp with 35mpg est. We know about the price est 25k. Little is known about the car it's self. All we have are possible pre- production concepts, and Photoshop photos. Most of then suck in my opinion. I would like a RX7 that's not a Hyundai or Nissan wannabe! It's hard to figuring out what's going to be the next RX-7 because of the new RX-9.

*forgot one but it's ugly anyways. |
The 7 is dead, the thought of a rebirth needs to lay down and let go. The Rx-9 would be a better concept for the simple fact that the two aren't compairable. Just like the 7 and the 8 aren't compairable other than the engine.
|
They are coming out with the Rx-7 because there is a market for it again. The rx-8 is going to become the rx-9. The rotary engine is going to be in Mazda's future.:goodrebuild:

The R&T rendering I think holds its plausibility the best of them all. Take a look at the 6, the 3, the 5, the 2, all have similar looking headlights/overall front ends, the R&T car takes the best idea based upon that. I will say that if they do something similar to the R&T rendering, get rid of the stupid rear quarter window, no 7 has ever had on of those, just door glass, b-pillar, and then hatch glass/rear-side glass (think SA/FB).
As for the blue car, yeah, it's pretty, but that's all. Anyone who has seen a vehicle produced and that knows the strict guidelines that cars have to go through to come into the US would know that if that car WERE produced, it wouldn't be offered here, because that b-pillar has no way of having the kind of structural integrity that a rollover would need to sustain passenger safety. Great idea, but not plausible. And again, for those thinking that an FD based car is a great idea, in a world of innovation, why in the hell would a "completely new model" get based upon a chassis design from the 90's? A great performing chassis no less, but old and out dated when compared to new technologies. My $.02. -J |
One thing is for sure, it will have a smiley face for a grill. HAHA!

can not unsee
|
Really mazda should just give up because they will never have anything cool again. There are to many nice, fast cars out and they cant keep up. plus their cars are happy

Here is the latest we have on this topic... we don't know much, but we've been known to be right a time or two! ;)
http://rotarynews.com/node/view/1108 You can leave comments there... we know Mazda peeks at them... Enjoy, -Bern _ |

Looks better than all of them except for the blue one. The new car better have a hatch. |
Do we really need another one of these threads?
