[QUOTE=RockLobster;.
I dropped the car off at turblown and we worked up a build plan. It's getting the new Adaptronic Modular ECU and a BW EFR 9180. More to come.[/QUOTE]

Will be great to see the progress and outcome of this. Would be interesting to see a before and after Dyno sheet.

It would be! But the car wont run properly the way it is (or was).

Any chance you could get some photos of the exhaust before its fitted to the car?
Cheers

I'll take some pictures the day it's all welded up.

similar issue with my cosmos 1990

I purchased mines in october,and it has a very similar issue after running it for like al hour or more it stalls not wanting to run pass 1000rpm, i fondo two other Issues maybe telares, but silla retina to get this one fixed. Pelase contact me if you find the cure.

You may have to translate this further for me.

One minor update now, more to follow later.

The major upgrades are completed for the most part. Just little things and tuning. Car is still at Turblown but they did the first start and said it fired on the 2nd crank, i assume once the fuel pressure came up.

We believe we found the problem the car was having just for others reference who might be struggling with a JC cosmo that does not want to run right.

It appears the fuel pump resistor pack was bad. Like the RX-7s the cosmos have a fuel pump resistor relay system to reduce the voltage and thus fuel pump speed at low engine load/rpm. The 20B cars actually have two resistor relay circuits, thus a 3 voltage level system. In the cosmo the resistors are separate from the relays. In the RX-7s the resistor and relay is part of the same assembly (on a bracket). The resistors seemed to drop voltage after the underhood temps warmed up on my car causing the fuel pump voltage to drop to near zero. May just be a loose wire in the system but either way we ditched the resistor pack and now the fuel pump will see full voltage all the time. Having left all 3 circuits in tact but just bypassed the resistor pack means at high load the car will sort of have 3 redundant fuel pump circuits.

Nice, saw on FB that your car was running. Good info on fuel pump issues that would not be easily found. What fuel pump did you go with to keep up with the 9180 (in tank ?)

RockLobster 02-08-18 02:37 PM

Right now it has a Walbro 255, which i had swapped in there thinking maybe the stock pump had gone bad. But, with the new setup i got a 460lph stainless to put into it. Just need to run the first tank dry.

It's getting closer! Tuning is progressing. The big challenge they have faced is getting the transmisison working with the Adaptronic. New 460lph fuel pump is in. Car has been on the dyno. It ate through 3 batteries before the alternator finally gave out. Hopefully all is well with the charging system now after swapping in an FD alternator.

Have any tips on how to wire this up?
