Went to the TN Divisionals (SCCA) last weekend, and came across this little gem... Rough around the edges but a wet dream come true.... I believe the car is for sale..... Anyways my first up close and personal with a ROTARY MIATA...

Cool, I see so few that are running. Here is a link to my daily driver. 13bt with RX-7 drive train.

:bigthumb:

I too am curious how it performed on the track. Any idea on the power output?

ok, ok. Time to come clean.....the car (and me) got blasted on.
I learned, firsthand, why you do /pay what is necessary to do your testing in private sessions as opposed to doing your sorting as part of a mid-level SCCA event.

Basically, prepare to WIN or be prepared to LOSE. I was neither.

It was a two day event, and on Saturday we were getting absolutely OWNED by a supercharged Stalker V6, see www.stalkerv6.com for that monster.
A divisional consists of 3 runs on Saturday, 3 more on a different course on Sunday. So, you have to get it right immediately. After Saturday, I was trailing the Stalker by 4 seconds!! An eternity in autocross! Went back to the hotel and chewed on what I had seen/felt/heard/ thought the Miata had done that day. The car hadn't done the same thing twice, very unstable an unpredictable. Went back to the event on Sunday morning, borrowed a Harbor Freight toe alignment gauge and went to work front and rear. Found the rear to be toed out, the front was toed in. Exactly the opposite of what you want for autocross. Set everything as good as possible for a trackside alignment, and proceeded to run. Turned a faster time than the Stalker on our first lap, he matched my second laptime, and eventually he won the day by 1.3 seconds. Obviously I didnt represent the rotary Mazda crowd very well for the weekend, but the car is just getting dialed in.

This past weekend we ran a regional autocross where the car was able to take FTD over 80 other cars, including several fast guys who turned faster times at the TN Divisional. So, the sorting continues, and the car will get faster. Additionally, I am getting adjusted to the new car and my comfort with it's characteristics grows with each lap.

oh yeah BlurRex- power is est. in the 225-240 range. It's a bridgeport with all the good stuff, 90 rotors, aluminum flywheel, yada yada. Only problem right now is the fact that I'm running the wrong intake, a Dellorto SD into the T2 lower piece. it's LONG, and had to cut a hole in the hood to clear! So, the motor's good to go for 9000, but it only makes power to 7000. MY engine guy (LCR Engines, Gadsden, AL) and MPM(on this forum) are working on an individual TB setup that should fix it up, and give the engine all the air it needs. :)

sorry about thread hopping. What are you gonna do with that intake? is it for a 12a? I need to get one like yours for my 12a. I also have the short sidedraft if you need one like this. Very nice setup, and kick ass on the runs, you only get better with practice. What does that thing weigh? What speeds do you get up to on the track?
