13B help in project Nissan 240sx
 

Currently I'm in the process of installing an N/A 13b from an 87 rx7 into my S13 Nissan 240sx. The application for this car is weekend warrior drifter, but I'd like this to be reliable and dependable as well (ha who doesn't want that, but it needs to have power and response throughout slides and turns).

Now, I'm looking for advice and suggestions as to making this thing run. I'd like this thing to be computerless. I've been all over the net trying to learn this from that and find out what will suit my application best.

With this said, does anyone have any info on what I need to do to make this a computerless running machine and also what specific components/brands may suit my application best. Im very open minded and willing to listen, but I don't want to turn this into an EFI vs Carb thread. Thanks - joe b

computerless? like no ECU, standalone, or anything?

if thats what you want, then it can't be done practically.

just run all the wiring from the RX7 harness.

Very interesting idea, first of all. Second of all, I'm not so sure it can be done. However, if you do get it to work somehow, please let me know.

Computerless... Then you'd have to go carbed.

If your project will be natrually asperated then there are a ton of aftermarket carbs. Me personally have used a Dellorto on a Series 4 (86-88) 6port (non-turbo) motor and liked it ALOT.

If you want turbo power without a computer... you have the option of going blow-thru. Rotaryshack.com sets up Webers to do this.

Converting your EFI rotary to Carborated is easy. As the guy above mentioned, there are a number of mfg who make carb kits for your application, racing beat is yet another company with good info on their site. Your hardes part will be getting the engine brakets, and trans mission brackets as they will have to be custom. there is alot of room in the S13 engine bay so you can move it around a bit. however to make your life easier I would align the transmission (I'm guessing your going to use a 13B nonturbo transmission) such that the shifter pops through the stock location. From there make your mounts to position the engine and trans. Your drive shaft will need to be a combination of the stock S13 drive shaft and the rx-7's drive shaft. The S13 uses a 2 piece drive shaft while the rotary is a 1 piece. Any custom drive shaft shop should be able to splice the two together one way or another.

Thanks for the suggestions so far. The tranni mounts and motor mounts are all fabbed, the engine is sitting in the car, and the driveshaft is done. I suppose my biggest question is what are my options for ignition. I'd like this to be a simple setup. Thanks again and I'll be sure to check out your site there Curtisleeyoung.
