who is running a lightened flywheel
 

what brand and weight are you running? do you like the results? I am liking the throttle response, but not too happy with the clutch. It came with the flywheel when i got it, all was used. Pedal feel soft, but still hooks up good.

got a slight vibration at low rpm around 1200 to 1500, but gone above that. So not sure if I should be concerned or not. Have not redlined since i noticed the vibration for fear of it breaking and loosing a foot or something. Am I just being too cautious?
Anyway what is your opinions on this set up?

You are using the correct auto counter weight for up it engine correct?

If not that may cause the vibration.

I too am using a lightweight flywheel from racingbeat. However, I don't have any vibration. It drives fine in cruising but the clutch engagement takes some getting used to.

ya my old black vert had a lightweight steel flywheel, made it somewhat hard to take off in. Verts pretty heavy tho... reved super quick tho!

I have a competition clutch light weight flywheel. Its 13lbs i think, but then add another 6-8lbs for the counter weight and you save maybe a few pounds from stock. I put an exedy oem clutch in with it, and it is rev happy, snappy, and fun. I let Mrgoodnight drive it the other night and he said there is a noticeable difference from stock. I got mine on ebay. Just look up part numbers and search those on ebay so you get the right parts! If you have to replace the clutch, replace with a light weight flywheel. Then you eliminate the need to ever mess with the 54mm nut!

I'm running an Exedy Lightweight Flywheel on my FD and I like it. Used the auto counterweight. Never had any weird vibrations ever.

I run a Racing Beat aluminum flywheel in my turbo '83 and an old Greddy steel flywheel in my NA '84, which is about the same weight as the aluminum. Huge improvement over stock, and no unusual vibrations from either one (just normal mild vibrations due to the hockey puck motor mounts and competition tranny mounts). After having used light flywheels for so long, I can't stand stock ones any more.
