TRANSPLANT....bye bye Camden
Many of you know that I have a family member who is undergoing a transplant. Although I am very worried and concerned, I am also looking forward to the day after the transplant to see my family member reach the potential I knew that she had in her. There were several factors that forced this life-altering decision.
Blue is having the Camden Supercharger taken out, and replaced with a turbo. While she had the supercharger, I never got the power that was purported from the supercharger. The top HP that I ever got was 210 on one dyno test; but after reaching that HP, Blue never seemed to run right, with heating issues, and tuning issues continuously being problems. I have gone through three engines, and still the HP just was not there. To have spent the money for the Camden Supercharger, (along with the engines) and not reach higher HP than that was very discouraging. I have tried a carb setup with a 5in blower, and then changed over to a 7in blower efi/ecu, and still not much of a gain in HP as thought.
However, the more pressing factor was the lack of confidence that if anything should have happened to the supercharger that I would be out in the cold. I do not need to expound on this point but just say that I do not have the confidence that I would have gotten good customer service is something were to happen to my blower.
Good customer service, which brings me to the transplant and the doctors performing the transplant. I am very excited that Corksport is in the process of changing out the supercharger for a turbo. Being one of the sponsors for the Rotor Rally put them high on my list of companies to deal with, and being a full time shop that consistently provides quality work, I felt like they were the best doctors for the transplant. But more importantly, I feel that they understand the concept of good customer service. If you look at other places that have gone out of business, or others who are struggling, I think the bottom line is that they either did not know what good customer service was or forgot how to provide it.
I wish all the Camden owners the best of luck in their long journey. It’s a rough road ahead.
I can hardly wait to have Blue back with her new turbo. I feel like this is the right decision for her and me. Although it has been very painful to walk into her room, and it is empty, I know that when she is back, it will be worth the painful separation that I am experiencing.
Ryan from Corksport will be taking lots of pictures during the changeover. I will post them as I get them, or if anyone has any questions feel free to ask.
Thanks for listening

Great to see you posting this Deena. I can't wait for a run against that, I will have to head over to spokane for the street legal drags.
I think that she will be using her existing ltx-8. Self tuning eh...that is cool.

Code Blue,
You talk about heat and tuning issues...could you tell me a bit further what exactly those issues were?
I'm in it for the long run, so any knowledge that you might have in problems that you've run into would be good!
Such as heat, did you try water/alc injection? Dan said he's never done it and I don't see why it wouldn't combat the heat almost as good as intercooler.

©ØÐËߣüË - I have to admire your perseverance. I have done many car projects in the past 45 years, and there were too many tmes when I had to do something two or three times to get it right, whether it was mechanical, electronic or bodywork. I have transplanted motors, including a 13b into a 1980 GLC, but I have never tried to develop a motor to such a high level as you are doing. I am sure you can really appreciate at this point what some of the manufacturers do accomplish - to produce a car in large numbers with really good performance and reliability right off the showroom floor. Doing that in your backyard, so to speak, is a real challenge. I took the easy way out and installed a big motor.
As you probably know, I have two 1st gen cars, one rotary and one V8. I cannot be accused of being anti-rotary - I just like variety in my life. Both of my cars are fun to drive, but they are indeed very different in overall feel. If you have never driven one of these cars with a V8, look me up next time you are in Seattle.

NO I didn't sell my car, the guy was very flakey about the whole situation so I decided against selling it to him (and he flipped out in the process) and selling it period...it's with me for life now.
Good choice.
A S4 or S5 turbo motor with stock ECU and FCD should be able to get close to or match your previous power level with absolutely no drivebility issues, etc.
