Hi Tyler. Did you replace the needle and seat during rebuild and adjust the floats?
I would be happy to take a look and help you out, but I'm way down in OR.
Give us a few more details on what you have done and what is happening and maybe we can helps.
-Robert.

yes i did replace the needle and seat but was told not to adjust the float bowls so i didnt. gas will sometimes come leaking out of the carb from the backside. and sometimes my car wont rev past 2000 when its not warmed up it just backfires and hesitates

Sounds like the accelerator pump. Did you replace the pump gasket?
Also there is a little check ball in the main port for this. Looks about half the size of a BB. If this is not present it could cause some of the issues you are describing. Most rebuild kits come with replacements. LMK,
-Robert.

I know I'm prolly a bit too late to help....BUT...patience is the key! When I rebuilt the carb on the '83 ae71 'rolla I had (not an Rx-7 Nikki obviously, but still a carb)...it took me 3 trys!! I literally cleaned it & put back together 3x before I got it right, watch out for check-*****/springs and gaskets. Also make sure the tang on the float hasn't been bent!! You'll get it right eventually.
