^^^LIKE A BOSS!!
Well the carnage was pretty intense on this one. I think that by the looks of the apex seals and the 3.5mm slots on the rotor tips, it must have had around 180k miles. I ended up replacing the rotors, 1 rotor housings, all seals on the rotors to include oil control rings, rear side housing and flywheel.
I'll post pictures up for the owner and he can hand them off once he picks his jaw up off the floor. The failure was caused by an apex seal corner piece leaving the slot and wedging itself into the rotor housing surface. This crushed all seal lands on the rear rotor gear side.

Well guys,
In my piston engine racing days.........I blew up a small block chevy that the con rod split the block in half at 9000 rpm, but this one is going to kill me. engine was turning 2500 rpm shifting from 1st to 2nd. Sent it to the right guy for a build. Thanks man see ya soon.

Here are the pictures of the carnage!!
Enjoy the engine Joe.
I do have to say that I had a great time spending the night working on this with a like minded person. Rotarded or not you can not beat a night of doing what you love to do. After all the parts were literally just laying around collecting dust, this gets the wife off my back about it. Lol.

old age and abuse from p/o? apex seal groves in rotors very worn, apex seals worn in center apex seal springs flattened. just a few observations from army and kettelman. I think it was just high mileage that killed it guessing 170k to 180k plus. just worn out and its time I think. Army said it looks like a lot or high rpm runs on the engine.............not by me, I needed it to live as my dd. well waiting on the neibor to get home to use the picker to set it back in and get it running tonite.CAN'T WAIT going to be awesome. will keep everyone post on the progress.

Joe hit it dead on. It was just an engine at the end of its life. Remember that these engines do better and see less harmonic loads at higher RPM. So it is no wonder that it let go in the lower revs. I had never seen one let go like this. I am just glad I was able to share my know-how and parts abundance to get a buddies ride back on the road.
