NASCAR GTUs Update

http://www.jjrmotorsports.com

I just got my website up the other night. It's nothing fancy right now but I have a couple of pages and a link to the YOUTUBE video of my first win which came in an 8 car 8 lap heat race. I hope you will bookmark the page and check in from time to time as I will be adding new things all the time.

I'm currently working on a Miata complete rear diff swap so I can run a 4.88 ring and pinion next season and will post that info as it happens. I purchased an RTEK box to tune with and I'm working on a fresh N/A S5 engine as well. I have some parts up for sale that I will post on there as well as the new batch of pictures which will include pics of some of the cars I'm competing against.

chrisw80 11-29-08 05:42 AM

crush that thing.

O ya, you are that guy who DESTROYED a real "Gtu-s", what is it 1 of 1500 made EVER - so lets see subtract the ones that where wrecked that year so apx under 700 in existence mabe less shame on you! what a wast, you should be BAND for the rx7club, But that's just my 2cents feel free to agree or disagree. what dose everyone else think..

SilentNight1647 11-29-08 06:53 AM

I think you need to learn how to spell. More importantly who cares if he used a GTUs, should he have used base model because there are more of them? I hate guys like you that think you are so high and mighty. Get off your damn soap box and appreciate what the guy did. Hell I bet he has at least one more feature win than you'll ever have.

cagedruss 11-29-08 12:12 PM

Congrats! Brings back old memories. I use to Race Minis at Monroe and Spanaway years ago. Nice job on the car!

I think you're a moron. That guy built a competitive race car and you're knocking him down for it? There is nothing special about a GTU-s. It has no collector car value. You can buy a 4.33 ring gear from mazdaspeed motorsports for about 450 bucks and turn any rx7 into a GTUS.

Watched the vid, Good work on the car and the win. That looks like fun!:icon_tup:

Upgrayedd 11-29-08 03:27 PM

wtf Chris?! Seriously...?! Why even post that shit...? You have no right to say what you just said and I doubt your facts are any more accurate than your spelling. To each his own, but I think if everyone had seen your car and it's new paint job would be tearing you apart. If you're going to post something make it positive and use your brain next time.

Fozzy, great job with the car. Keep us updated on your dominance ;) Teh 7 can't lose! And yes I meant Teh not The

What the guy does with his car is certainly his business.

Saying that a GTUs has no collector value is incorrect.
Check the Mazda Buyers guide, and resale values on good quality GTUs.

And no, swapping out the rear end does not magically turn the car into a GTUs

TweakGames 11-29-08 04:41 PM

lol ignore chrisw80 he is ''special''. Are you serious ''crash that thing'' wow. Just .. wow.

Congrats on everything. You should be proud of all that hard work finally paying off. Next time you go out racing could you post when and where? I would love to come watch you own. If you did post the info opps sorry I missed it.
Keep up the good work!

Negative Ghost Rider.

Whatever hype and bullshit you're eating up in the forsale forum and Mazda Buyers Guide is wrong when you look at the real life value of the car in NADA/Bluebook. There is very VERY little performance difference in the GTUs and GXL. If you need a reason to piss your money away go ahead and pay the asking price on a clean GTUs, or take a much cheaper clean GXL and swap the parts in for less money. This really is a case where the number of letters in the trim level directly correlates to the thousands of dollars uneducated young potential buyers with a high interest rate personal loan are willing to spend.

No one should be butt-hurt over this guys car.

Fozzy way to rock the Evergreen Speedway. The rabbit that caught up to you initially is (i believe) the rabbit owned by one of the guys at cambel nelson autowrecking. Not that it matters cause **** He got OWNED!!!

Fozzybeardude 11-30-08 01:23 AM

I've been through that with Chris before, he is entitled to his own opinions. That GTUs was the first rx7 I had ever owned and I didn't know one FC from another and will admit that it was a reallly nice car, rare or not. I offered it up on here to save her but was only offered $1,000 and an XBOX.

I will be running a couple of races East of the mountains in 2009 including Yakima, Ephrata, and maybe even Idaho. This season ended in September but '09 begins in April. I will post a complete schedule of the races I plan on attending on my website and will put a quick post up on here too.

That was Chuck in his Rabbit from Cambell Nelson Auto Wrecking in Arlington, WA.
Chuck is a great great guy and a huge supporter of our division. If you are looking for parts for any European or Japanese car, try www.findusedparts.com or just call Cambell Nelson auto wrecking and ask for Chuck.

l'm under powered but that is my focus this winter. I worked on suspenion last year but ran a bone stock '86 engine almost all year.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tOuC9ZmNEtg

If you watch the above linked video, you can see early in the race the yellow GSR Integra and a '88 Prelude are out front but when the video cuts to the restart with me in 2nd, I passed the Prelude and tried to hold off the #01 240sx that dominates, he has a TON of power. The 3rd place car is a VW Scirocco.

Fozzybeardude 11-30-08 01:36 AM

I almost forgot, thank you to all for the words of encouragement. It was a lot of hard work and it's nice to hear the positive feedback.

Ogre 11-30-08 01:40 AM

Yah he (chuck) seemed like a pretty cool dude, ive gotten some stuff from him for my gti. I had raced out at Evergreen for a while and as i had fun turning left wasnt for me. Regardless i admire the craftsmenship and dedication it takes to run a car out there week after week. Ah i remember the 3 days in a row without sleep tryin to get my car back up and running after encountering one of the nice big white tires at about 70mph, woot fun stuff. Keep up the great work and bring on the updates!!

:dragster: minus the big hood, wing and parachute.

woot this is my 100th!!! and your ^post^ beat me to the punch.

whitefcdrifter 12-03-08 07:34 PM

rrw 12-04-08 03:08 PM

Performance difference? Who cares about performance?
For performance I will stick with my FD.

Sorry, you're missing the point. Whether or not you care about the letters in the name, folks that collect cars do care. A GTUs is a rare car, and that can be determined by the VIN.

As for Nada/KBB, those are pretty useless for certain genres of cars, as you are probably aware.

As for young and uneducated, it's been quite awhile since I have been either.

Sometime in the past few months a clean, low mileage GTUs went for ~6500 on the forum, which is a pretty good price for a FC.

I was considering buying that car, a GTUs is pretty sweet in my book. No room for another car though.

Three years ago I sold a clean, very low mileage vert for $9000. Also a good price for a NA FC, though it was one that is rather rare - that is, very low mileage and un-abused.

:dunno: It's your money if you want to piss it away that's your problem.

The 91 verts I can understand, they're typically in GREAT shape and the low mileage is what warrants the high price. I bought a s5 91 low mileage vert in amazing condition in '05 for a friend of mine for 5000, so 9000 must have been showroom floor, less then 10k miles.

Chedstar 12-05-08 11:57 AM

I am a real estate appraiser; and there are multiple values that can be given to any piece of property. That said "fair market value", is the true acid test.

Fair market value is defined as "The most probable price in terms of cash or cash equivalency which a property should bring in competitive and open market under all conditions requisite to a fair sale, the buyer and seller, each acting prudently, knowledgeably and assuming the price is not affected by undue stimulus".

Basically "fair market value" is the amount you can sell the property for.

Mazda Buyers Guide, Kelly Blue Book or NADA Guide can say anything is worth X dollars, but if you can only sell the car for X-1 dollars, then is it really worth X dollars? No it is not. It might be worth X+1 dollars to the "right" purchaser, but that would be considered an "undue stimulus". It is only worth X-1 dollar to the general public.

He tried to sell the car on the open market and was offered only $1,000 and an XBox. In this case, that tells me a GTU does not command a premium price in his market.

All that being said, "Chris" should have stepped up and bought the car if he feels so strongly about it or shut the %^&* up now! What a jackass!

Which is why a clean, low-mileage GTUs recently sold on the 2nd gen forum for $6.5k.

You guys have it wrong. . .(Ignorance is bliss)

Yeah, we did kind of hijack this thread, didn't we?

My apologies, I know better.

Fozzybeardude 12-07-08 03:05 AM

That is alright guys, you've kept me well entertained!

I may need an extra hand this next season. I will through a shout out when that time comes, Thanks!

eriksseven 12-09-08 04:19 PM

FYI, GTUs's are extremely rare and ARE highly prized by people in the FC community... They are nothing like the GXL... The interior has turbo seats, no creature-comfort features (sunroof, power, tilt, cruise etc.), the transmission, diff. and power-steering setups are different as well. They are also equipped with the turbo wheels and a couple cool stickers. ;)

rotary-guy 12-09-08 06:32 PM

^ ahh damn it erik, way to start it up again lol jk

notveryhappyjack 12-09-08 07:25 PM

so you are the one that finally murdered tj's s4
