My car was stolen last night... but i recovered it in less then 20 minutes
Last night I was up doing english homework at around 3:40 AM when I noticed the distinct starting noise of a Saturn SL2 engine right outside of my house. At first I thought, wait maybe it's my neighbor since he has a Saturn just like me. Then I realized, he doesn't get up for work for another 3 hours since he usually leaves at the time I go to school every now and then.
I jump up to my window and notice IT IS MY CAR! I thought... wait, it's probably just my parents borrowing my car. Then I thought why would they want to borrow my car at 3:50 AM when they're working graveyard and they have their own cars? It didn't make sense. I saw the car pull up next to an old school white 4Runner. Immediately the flight or fight instinct kicked in, my chest was tightened and I had a surge of adrenaline running through me. I picked up the closest blunt object and ran downstairs and tried sprinting out the door without shoes on. MY CAR WAS GONE, all I heard was the drowning silence of 3:30am cold humid air...
I was now breathing hard and trying to recover from my adrenaline rush so I can talk clearly to a 911 dispatcher. Within two minutes of coming back inside after an immediate recovery attempt on my car, I completed a 911 report for what just happened. I went back upstairs, called my parents to let them know about my situation. The thoughts of how am I going to get to work, how am I going to get to school, where am I going to get money for another car, what about my personal belongings in my car, were crashing with one another in my head.
Ten minutes go by from when the car was just taken. Since I live in a quiet neighborhood, I'm able to hear cars come and go out of my area. I hear another car rush by my house. Never would I've thought that I'd be glad to see the sight of a Crown Victoria police Interceptor parked below my bedroom window waiting for me to come out. I walk outside in my PJs, and a police officer comes out and hands me a statement and informs me my car was just recovered, WITHIN 10-15 MINUTES. I feel so relieved at this point, it takes me another 5 minutes to fill out the statement, the cop offers to take me to my car so I can drive it back. I go back in my house to get some clothes on, and I get my first ride in the back of a police car.
We approach the area where my car was blocked in and spotted in another residential area only 3 minutes away from my house. There were literally 5 - 6 cop cars blocking off the saturn's location. Adjacent to the car was the white SUV parked on a driveway of a pretty nice looking house, my guess was that they ditched the car there. One guy was arrested but the other guy ran off. I see my car being investigated by 3 other police officers. They ask me to check my car to see if there are any belongings that don't belong to me. As I approach my vehicle, I see a red colored reptile skin purse being examined by one of the cops, they ask me if I know the person in the ID inside of the purse, obviously I don't. A stolen purse full of personal information was found in my car. I inspect the passenger seat and the rest of my car and notice everything is there. I see one of my sweaters and lift it up to find a wad of cash, and two cell phones. I handed these to the police officers, evidently the guy that stole my car was trying to hide the items. I failed to realize that there were another set of keys in the ignition that I've never seen before. The cops pull em out and examine the keys, apparently they were shaker keys from what the cops were saying, about 6-7 different makes of car keys were on the single key ring.
The cops are done with me, they let me go so I can get back to whatever I was doing. I now see them examining the white SUV exactly how they examined my car. As I drive off I feel slightly relieved, the feeling of having to adjust the seat for the first time in a year back to my comfortable position makes me feel uneasy knowing that someone else was just sitting in here with intentions of stealing my possessions just 30 minutes earlier. The feeling of satisfaction as I saw the guy who stole my car with his hands cuffed behind his back getting transferred into another vehicle make me feel good.
Well... just a warning to all of you, even if you think it's safe, I'd take the extra precaution of doing whatever you can to ensure your cars safety. I know I am from now on!

Just be glad it wasn't your old 7 that they stole!! I wish when my Integra was stolen it didn't get totalled and I got it back, but then again I wouldn't have my 7 so it worked itself out!
Nice job with the write up on the situation.
Damn thieves. I'm glad they got one. Now its time to take knee caps and have him roll on his buddy.
I'm also glad you got your car back and very glad that it was not the 7. BTW did that sell, hows the new owner liking it?
Thanks Joe,
Joe

I will give you a killer deal on a full blown new alarm. $100. Glad to hear you got it back.
I installed at the kent sounds on wheels for a while. I remember a older couple came in with a brand new gsr a bunch of years back. The old man told me they got one a week before and it was stolen the first night in his driveway. They had another one and said they wouldn't pick it up until the alarm was complete.

Well maybe he can, its his car now. But then he might as well rename it something like the LS1-7 because it sure won't be an Rx any more. It will be like getting a heart and brain transplant all at the same time. You'll be a completely different person after that.

I've been soo close to selling my car a few time (had signs and prices in the window once) and I just can't bring my self to do it. I walk around the car and fall in love all over again. Then you sit in the cockpit and you get this warm and fuzzy feeling, you hear the motor and feel the boost and that's it. There's no turning back.
Good Idea on buying another! I've still got mine so the next purchase will have to be a non-rotary, but still turbocharged, car... I can't have another FD for a daily driver! I would love to but the job won't allow it... I need a sedan. Prolly an SRT-4 just because I love the sound of the exhaust! That reminds me I need to install my midpipe this weekend and start my FD up... Maybe I'll pull it out of the garage and wash it.
well, i'm not gonna buy another one for a while, i'm going to wait till i graduate and become a CPA, then i'm going to create the most beautiful 3-rotor FD anyone's ever seen in washington, ha, i can still dream can't i?
