I'm coming, coming, back, back, from Cali, Cali
What up... I'm moving to Seattle in a few weeks, and I'd really like to meet some local rotary-junkies like myself. I grew up in Portland, but have been living in LA for the last 7 years or so, and I'm moving back to have a garage, a driveway, a water spout, clean dense air, twisty roads, dark coffee, and fertile girls. Nearly every time I visit the NW I see a few RX-7s of all gens, so I look forward to meeting up some time! I'm interested in getting into LeMons if anyone is doing tha, and also building a carb'd 3-rotor for an RX-3. And what's the fastest/cheapest way to get onto SIR?

Well it's not Pacific Raceways, no longer SIR. Typically the easiest and least expensive way to get onto their road course is to get in with one of the local sports car clubs like Porsche, Alfa Romeo, BMW, etc... They have the most track days that I see on the schedule annually. We also have Portland Intl Raceway and there is a new track in Oregon as well I'm sure you'd love.
Oh an if you're moving here and buying a house hit me up ;) I'm all about sellin houses |

Shameless... and yet attractive :)
I'll let you know, will be interested in about 6 mos. Could we tour the houses in your 7? |
Also, what's the deal with WA smog/emissions registration? Any insight?
|
what city are you moving to?
|
Currently to the Shoreline neighborhood in Seattle, but will probably be working in Everett... still have to sort that out :)

Good thing your going north from seattle to work. Driving two and from the middle of I-5 is seattle is hell this time of year. Enjoy the cool weather.

lol I could maybe work that out to tour in the 7, it's not licensed and has poor coolant seals but it's manageable.
WA smog isn't too difficult to pass if you know what you're doing. If you came from Cali you're probably fine cuz IIRC their limitations are more strict than ours. It's typically required every 2 years. In Shoreline you will be required to have an emissions qualified vehicle. But no worries, if you have any trouble whatsoever we have lots of experience passing and failing emissions |

Just move out to unincorporated King county......no emissions! Carnation rules!
|
As far as meeting the people up here we have a few monthly meetings, one up north, one down south, and one in the middle so theres plenty of chances to meet and hang out. I definitely want to see that 3 rotor rx3 to that sounds like an awesome project.
|
I live on the eastside of the lake (lake washington) hit me up once you finally decide to move up, its a pretty short drive to shoreline for me and for sure lookin at a 3 rotor rx3 would be worth it lol

FYI... IDK what you've been doing for the last 7 years, but you are moving AWAY from the best driving roads on the west coast. I grew up in LA and when i moved here i was thoroughly nonplussed with the driving conditions. Other than that... welcome to WA:) |

seattle lies within king county, king county has smog check. No underhood inspection when you pass the first time, if you fail and come back with a waiver($150) then before they wave you they look under the hood. If you passed in LA then don't worry about seattle.
see you soon, depending on what sort of driving you do we could make a special drive like a "I escaped Los Angeles Drive" haha |

So odd. I hate everything about Washington, and I'm trying everything I can to get down to Cali... I think I might have met you at 7 stock. Were you broken down in the parking lot after everything was winding down?

welcome to the nw

Ok, so the weather sucks... but it's beautiful up there. No state income tax is huuuge, and the cost of living is much lower than California. LA has a lot of pluses, but the people here are so self-centered and it's all about what you can do for them- too much bullshit. I'm seeking a simpler life- a house, a driveway, a dog, a garage!... Living in LA has taught me this much. |
