fb problems :`(
so i know this doesnt sound like a big deal but to me it it. today it was nice n sunny so i went on a drive, i had a lil over a quarter tank maybe more. so i parked the car to help out one of my friends n i left it running. well when i go back i notice now my fuel gauge isnt working, so now i have no idea how much gas i have and im not sure even if i fill it if the gauge will even work. so if u can tell i have a deliema on my hands. what is wrong with my gauge? could it be a fuse. . . not likely but who knows. could it be the sending unit in the tank or something that took a shit? whatever it is i need to know what to do n how to fix it. please help

could be the fact that it's carb, kill yourself, get a turbo II..
just kidding mitch |
Why dont you put gas in it first and see if you did not just run it really really low...
|
could be the sending unit, or you could've ran out of gas... LOL! it is a rotary. no but really the sending units on 1st gens like to kick the bucket. I'd say by now about 25% of them don't work anymore. you have to drop the tank to replace it.
|
hmmm im goin 2 fill it up 2day but i drove it 2day n i have gas.
|
so yah spyder was right, lol. i guess it just drops below empty when i have quarter tankish in their so i guess the problem is fixed 4 now.
|
Not that you want to drop the tank at all, but if the sending unit has a floater ring that moves along a shaft with metal contacts, cleaning the metal contacts with some nail polish remover and making sure they are clean and smooth may recover the rest of your fuel gauge reading issues at the lower end. But not sure if the fb has same fuel gauge sending as I described. LOL

o well, it really doesnt matter/wont matter for long. im doin a TII swap so i gotta get a -se tank n then i'll make sure everything is in working order
