engine pulling

hey just cus i got off of work and its late i got to thinking..... i have done one engine swap rotary wise and i was thinking what mounts did you guys used to pull the engine and tranny. the way i did it was mounting tab/bracket that is on the block on the right of the 13b and wraped a BIG ASS chain around the tranny and attached it all with an engine leveler.

There are 2 of those mounted tabs, one one on the front of the engine, one behind the UIM... thats at least how I do it.

nothing to support the tranny too? i am not trying to agrue its just more of food for thought.

Nope, Tranny is plenty light and is firmly attached, the stock rear engine pulling loop is on the rear iron which balances the motor very well.

+1

If you chain it right, you can do a shimmay and shake and get the entire shabang out fairly easy. Make the rear chain a tiny bit looser, then when you hoist it, it will pull it upwards at an angle, just enough to do a hoist-a-bit, roll-a-bit, hoist-a-bit repeat action. A little practice and it comes out clean with not alot of work and you can do it alone.

only thing about pulling engine/tran in my experience is that the transmission fluid (AT) or oil wants to run out the tailshaft in large quantity... so you need to preplan for that possibility.
i use a 1948 hyster forklift serial number 00049 for pulling my motors, not an option for most people.
(hoist actually works better/ but is more work).
not all 7's still have 2 hooks, about 50% of the ones that i have are missing the front one, and some are missing both.
