Cost for a turbo rebuild or install

Hi Folks, Any idea of the ball park figure for replacing or rebuilding stock turbos on an FD? What about going to the effini turbos? I wouldn't do any of the work myself (being the incompetent that I am).

Well the labor of installing is probably around six hours or so because I think the consesus was that if you know what your doing it should take 3 hours to take the turbos off and another 3 putting them back on. But who knows because I can take mine off in under an hour and put back one in about an hour because I have done it about 10 times in the past 4 months and Im non-sequential so less crap to remove. I wouldnt go the efini turbo route I always thought that it was pointless its way to expensive and give you little difference over the stock ones.If you wanted to keep the twins go with BNR stage 3's they are awesome for twins can handle way more boost. As far as rebuild goes I think a kit is 250 per turbo so 500 for both and it should take probably no more than 3 hours to do for an experienced rebuilder. Hope that helps.

Thanks Zack. That does help. Sounds to me like it could be as much as $1500 for the parts and work to do a rebuild.

The cheapest I've seen them listed for someone else to rebuild the turbos was about $1500 with a good core. The BNRs are $2300 and are essentially twin Garrett GT28s so it's not a rebuild, but an upgrade. But does use the turbos you send in. Can easily withstand 18psi on pump gas and in non-sequential have seen over 400whp on pump, and in sequential have seen over 375whp on pump. A much more efficient set-up if you're looking to stay twins.
