Found this stock 1990 Mazda Cosmo with 3k on a professionally rebuilt 20B. The factory GPS, satellite radio, TV receiver, and all other instrumentation works; 40k miles on car. Mom paid over $7000 for rebuild then took possession and title from son. She was so paranoid afterward that the car sat in their garage for six years and driven 500 miles, on average, a year.
Rebuild required two new 20b housings (among lots more). Housings were replaced with new 20B housings. Rebuilder had multiple 20b Cosmo's and got everything working right.
I'm flying to Canada this weekend and driving it back, if all goes well.

I'm in Spokane for the night with the Cosmo. Made it through customs with no hassle. Ignition switch is flaky and the first time I stopped for gas it wouldn't start. Called the seller and he said jiggle it and it will start. After half an hour, I gave up and called a tow truck. Driver had the front wheels on the flatbed when I lucked out and it caught and started. Left it running for half an hour at customs while they did their thing.
Home tomorrow if all goes well.

Robert you're such a dork. Yah that's why I spent the last month getting it here.

Ran like a rocket when tapped with the spurs, purred over the Rockies, drifted the high plains, dusted( well pretty much everything), jetted down the Columbia, with vapor in the tank sat for a half hour in three lane bumper to bumper on I5 in the HEAT at the turn off for the Labor Day Sale at the Factory Outlet Mall, coasted into the gas pump, home again, home again, jiggity jog.

This car is truly amazing to drive.

1993 Eunos/Mazda Cosmo Classic Drive - Motor Trend Classic

Cosmo is a hoot to drive. A real rocket. Reminds me of a thuroghbread race horse that loves to run but gets rambunctious going slow.
I took the paperwork to DMV where it was accepted. They did a VIN inspection and are sending a title for it to me.
Next; Next; Poof. Just like good software. Feels good to have made it happen with no major problems (Yet).


Cosmo idles too low. Idled fine in Canada and Spokan but down here in the valley it's tooooo sloooooow so I take it out of drive and into neutral or park, while waiting at stop lights.
There is a toggle switch on the steering column which is, according to the seller, a choke that Adam Heyman installed. Looks suspiciously like a fuel cut off switch but I have not messed with it yet.
The driver side window switch quit working the first day and the window wouldn't roll. Took the switch out and to an electronic repair shop. Chip, the repair guy, checked it out and did a multimeter test on it. He said he's never seen a switch like it before. It has a solenoid in it. Anyway he said it was defective. He says no charge. I give him $ anyway. At the shop I take it apart, superglued the cracking plastic posts where it screws/fastens, replaced a missing screw, put it together (bout 20 times before it all fit), heard it go click, click, reinstalled and it worked.

New spark plugs, oil, filter. Adjust BAC valve, idle, air/fuel. Better at low idle but not perfect yet.
Welded exhaust/muffler brackets, etc. Found trunk on/off switch in the glove box. Works popper. Prior owner said the trunk popper switch never worked in nine years. Guess they didn't use the glove box much. Fixed radiator sensor leak with new O-ring. New radiator cap to replace leaking one. New anti freeze. Checked fluid levels, aired up tires, found flare in passenger compartment that looks like factory feature.
Compression tested all three faces of all three rotors.
107psi front
105psi center
109psi rear

Took it and the 74 RX4 GTR to the Red Door meet in Portland.

In Japan you are legally required to keep road flares in your vehicle. It might not be from the factory, it might just be something that the original Japanese owner left in the car.

Been showing the RX3 at a few Cruise ins and car shows this year.
Also posted my fastest ET at Woodburn on my last trip there with the Peripheral port I built from the housings I bought from you. 11.93 @ 113.5
My brother is getting close to having his R-100 done. 13-B / 5 speed and found a guy in Medford that recovers dashes. He did a great job. Ought to be a sweet ride.

Previous owner thought the fuel cutoff switch was "the choke".
TV, Telephone, GPS, Radio, Air/heat, etc. all work.
