BDC Tuning in Portland (mid or late July)

Guys,
I'm currently scheduling a tuning date with BDC to visit Portland! He has tuned numerous 450+HP cars. His tuning ability is crucial to solving that "Power Puzzle"! This is your chance to get your car TUNED!
We would like ATLEAST 4 people to make it worth it for him. We would then split the airfare to get him here.

Price: $250/person

EMS type: Haltech / PFC

TUNING: - Street Driveablility
- Dyno tuning (Place & Price TBD)

For more info, PM ME ;)

Jim

Not to flame or anything just curious. . . Why don't you just go to Ground Zero and have Ralph tune it for you, he is well know around here for doing a great job tuning rotary's, and people from all over the states drive here to get him to tune thier cars.

Like I said just curious, I've never heard of this guy^ he must be really good.

ddub 06-22-05 10:05 AM

Yah from what I understand BDC travels all over the country to tune, and tuning isn't what he's "most" famous for. He does bridgeports all day long.

88IntegraLS 06-22-05 12:20 PM

What kind of numbers does he tune for? Some guys on nopistons.com said to tune for 12.2:1 when in boost. We've been shooting for 12:1 on Zjbarra's car and we haven't messed with the timing map yet.

ddub 06-22-05 05:01 PM

With Slammedblk7's recent tuning session with him at 481rwhp (on possibly shitty plugs) they tuned for high 11's and low 12's it seems.

88IntegraLS 06-22-05 05:23 PM

Hmm, yes that sounds about like the consensus. Seems the afr's are hard to really nail to a tenth of a point anyhow, and widebands only work when they are at the right temperature. One time Zach and I saw 14's on his gauge as he boosted right after starting it up, even though we were seeing high 11's for the previous hour when in boost. Turns out the O2 sensor might have cooled to below its accuracy range or something, because after we drove the car in boost a lot more it went back to normal and the car never knocked or felt lean.

I second that great guy and great people that work there

I already know my opinion stinks but here I go. If I had a FD with a Apexi I would have Ralph tune it. BDC is the man for tuning and building HIGH end engines. I don't think the Portland crowd pushes the envelope that hard. I read about all these 450-550 hp motors built and tuned by BDC and I think I want that on my next motor. 3 rotor has a nice car but....... a BDC 2 rotor would kick his ass, and the 3 rotor is tuned by Ralph I think. Anyway I know I'm rambling but my next motor will be built by Pineapple or BDC, but hopefully I have a little time to decide. The fact that ppl aren't lining up shows how obscure rotary's are in the NW.

Well, he might not be coming if I dont get 4 people locked in by this weekend :(. Then, I'll probably travel down to N. Cali to meet with him there.

If you have gone to the trouble of installing a Haltech or PFC, you need to have it tuned professionally.
In a town the size of Boise, we have had 3 confirmations already! Portland should have many more people that would benefit from his services.
Bridgeports need to be tuned around 10.9 to 11.2 AF ratios.
Streetports should be around 11.5. I would rather have it a little on the rich side and keep the engine intact. The .5 more fuel is not going to give you that much power anyway. Rotarys like gas.
BDC was one of the first people in the US to get a Haltech. He has been playing with them for a long time.

There are a handfull of 400+rwhp 7s running around. But 99% of them have Ralph tune them. CJ

The majority are FD's running Power FC's.

dr.jones63 06-24-05 12:02 AM

Yes, very reliable & streetable, 25 mpg, low 300 rwhp, nothing to sneeze at. BDC just has tuned alot of 4-500+ rwhp cars. I've never seen one of those either, but I would like too.

pp13bnos 06-24-05 08:01 PM

On high boost (16lbs) and a 50/50 mix of low lead 100 and super unleaded, my car made 400rwhp. :) While its nothing super crazy, I enjoy driving the car. At this moment, I'm running around on 11psi making around 300+rwhp, and last time I had the car at woodburn, it ran a 12.6@117 on factory sized street tires. This is actually Jims old turbo. :P

Ralph has a 400rwhp Rx-7 :D As does his buddy, Tammer. While I don't see him posting on here very much, there is a guy in Salem named James, who was running 400+ also. (He might have gone LT-1 or LS1?? I don't know.)

Sorry for hijacking your thread Jim. :)

We will be shooting for 500 RWHP on my FC!

88fc3sw/HX83 06-25-05 11:32 AM

sweet!

88IntegraLS 06-25-05 09:23 PM

So it takes 300 rwhp to run 12's? :(

If you know how to drive! 300 RWHP in our cars. Other cars would be different because of different weights.

pp13bnos 06-27-05 05:07 PM

Naa, you could easily run in the 11s with my HP. All you would need to do is put some drag radials/slicks on the car, and be able to launch the car at 6-8k rpms. I don't feel like breaking parts, so I stick to street tires, and launching the car at 3,500rpms. CJ
