apexi or hks

i was wondering which muffler is better hks or apexi? ive had n1 duals on my TII and i liked the way it sounded, now does hks high power sound any different? im looking to go single 3in back and i was just wondering if hks had a better or different sound than a apexi n1 tip.

Turbo11 09-08-06 06:13 PM

i think the n1's are going to sound better man

I've got some old hks's on my TII, I'll make a recording for you tonight

ninjaracing13 09-08-06 07:55 PM

can you post a pic of your exhaust, i think i might have picked up a set of hks hi-power duals but there is no marking on it

zack17 09-09-06 05:49 AM

im looking for single but if the right price comes up for some hks duals i would be very happy :D

I have an fd but i have the hks exhaust and it sounds awesome it really low and throughty i make so many alarms go off just at idle its awesome.

Hyper4mance2k 09-18-06 02:31 AM

They're similar, but real Apex'i N1 canasters have a choke in them and use venturi and berulli to quiet it down. The HKS is straight through and will be a lot higher pitched. Apex wins!

HKS with no cats =) Wins every time lol HKS with cats is very quiet and clean. Both look very similar but I prefer the sound of the HKS over the sound of the APEXi. Not to mention my experience with HKS products has yielded great results on a the two cars I've "built". Keep in mind I am driving an FD... not an FC.

i went with apexi n1, it sounds awsome but im still curiouse about hks. maybe if i get bored with this exhaust ill cut off the the n1 and go out and buy a hks and weld it up there. nobody had hks in any of there shops and i was with out exhaust so i had to buy n1. it was either n1 or skunk2

Upgrayedd 09-18-06 02:58 PM

Yea I hear ya. No one stocks HKS and MOST shops in my area don't have HKS available through their wholesalers. I believe the APEXi is cheaper as well... HKS can get pretty spendy, especially if you go through the wrong shop!

zack17 09-18-06 04:10 PM

ya but if its good quality than its well worth it if you ask me. no shops here in oregon have them in stock either. illl stick with my apexi untill after i get a rtex 1.7 bigger injectors fmic and bov. then if i have the money to be able to buy an hks i might because ive heard good things and i want to hear it

Upgrayedd 09-18-06 05:33 PM

Yea well you'll only hear good things from me. I owned an Integra before I had my FD and I put an HKS HiPower system on it and believe it or not it made up for the lack of VTEC. It gave me plenty of top end power to pull on the VTEC Integras. Good quality, superior performance, and it's not very loud. Good products if you ask me. And their SSQV BOV is orgasmic! lol

zack17 09-19-06 08:25 PM

i was looking to buy a bov and this guy that lives in my town was going to sell me his ssqv hks bov for 100 but i cant decide over hks blitz or tial

Hyper4mance2k 09-19-06 09:03 PM

I can get you either let me know! HKS is usually cheaper than anywhere local.

zack17 09-20-06 01:41 AM

the shop here wanted 300 for blitz dd, 200 for hks 40-50 for the flanges for hks so i was like rip off

now my exhaust is really loud and kinda gives it that wrx sound how would i quite it a lil bit but not to much with out loosing power?

Upgrayedd 09-20-06 02:51 PM

Do you have your main cat still in place? Downpipe? You are running dual correct? Is it a bolt on cat back system or is it welded up "custom"? You might be able to add resonators or if you are running a midpipe you could switch to a hi flow cat or resonated midpipe. It kinda depends on your exhaust set-up though....

zack17 09-20-06 04:01 PM

im running 3in down pipe with custom 3 in all the way back to n1 single..

Upgrayedd 09-20-06 04:59 PM

Add a resonator in the piping where the cat was to quiet it down a little. Won't take away as much power as a hi flow cat. My car is 3" all the way back with no resonators and it's loud. Resonators, from the exhausts I've heard make a bit of difference in lowering the volume of the exhaust.

http://www.apexi-usa.com/product_exh...=217&pageNum=1 what if i just baught a silencer? i dont feel like cuting my exhaust up unless its to put a hks tip on it

Upgrayedd 09-22-06 04:24 PM

You could do that..... I'm just not a fan of silencers and how they look.
