Well, if he's in the group they choose to run with, then he will.

I remember there was a 911 Porsche that was on once, but had problems with his clutch from brake boosting for too long and was eliminated early on.

1Seven4Me 05-29-08 04:08 PM

you need to run 11.50 or better!

better description of the event-
http://www.woodburndragstrip.com/woo...m-pinks-info!/
I suggest you know exactly what your car runs, and know how to slow it down if it qualifies. 200 have already registered, and some are real heavy hitters.... http://www.woodburndragstrip.com/woo...stered-racers/

I don't know if my car is fast enough, if it is I need a roll bar.

:hahaha: That's Awesome

Upgrayedd 05-29-08 07:01 PM

ahaha Snowmobiles!!! Would they let him run against cars tho? I wouldn't think so... if you're ever watched All Out Ari Yallon made it on with his RX7 drag car and at one time there was a Honda CRX that made it to the final 4. Just gotta run in the bracket they choose based on the level of competition in that bracket

sodrifter 05-29-08 07:13 PM

ive seen those snowmobiles run. THEY ARE BAD ASS!!!.
no way my friends sti will run an 11.50 so i guess no racing for him:(
im still goin anyway
im thinkin on sat. since the 4th is just qualifing anyway.
i would still love to see some 7s in the lot. hopefully mines painted by then:wallbash:

Read the info a little more closely.

This is different than the 'pick-16' all-out.... they start with 256 cars. It's still armdrop start, but before he does he flashes a big card with a time on it that both cars can run. the card time is slower than both cars can run. first one to the finish line moves to the next round, but if they break out they get eliminated, if both cars break out they both go home. last one still in wins the money. I think the intent is to get regular bracket racers to compete.... they know about what the car is running on any given day, but they almost always run all out, only hitting the brakes to scrub a hundredth off maybe if they think the car is going to break out... not a full second or or more.

I don't like the armdrop part myself; start it on a light- then the eliminations are less subjective. the armdrop thing is just to get himself on camera(ego) and make it seem like street racing.

Well each car does 2 runs to etablish an e/t. Then they pick 16 cars within a certain e/t bracket which usually happens to be a 2 tenth of a second spread and they match the cars up as best as possible, then run one n done arm drop races like the standadrd Pinks. The first 8 winners get $1k which is used as betting money for the next rounds. I'm familiar with the show. Just tried to abbreviate all this into that one statement, which apparently didn't work so well

read it yourself-

Attention Racers: Got a new one for ya. How about bracket racing that is actually exciting? I’m determined to make bracket racing FUN. Put a little twist and some serious bank in the competition and it could be real cool, real quick.

My answer: Rich Christensen's Armdrop Racing. Take 256 vehicles (cars, bikes, karts, snowmobiles ... I don't care) and race them HEADS UP. The winner stays in, the loser goes home. Why 256? 256 vehicles turns into 128, 128 into 64, 64 into 32, 32 into 16, 16 into 8, 8 into 4, 4 into 2 and 2 into 1.

In the end, there will be only one (winner take-all) grand champion. No money for 2nd place, up to $10K for the (winner take-all) grand champion.

This is what I’m gonna do. I’m gonna make DAMN sure that every vehicle in the competition is quicker than a predetermined, set time. Let’s say the track management decides that 10.8 for a quarter mile is a reasonable time. To be one of the 256 Armdrop racers - you must be faster than 10.8.... It’s that simple. I know that every vehicle in the competition is faster than 10.8 - so it doesn't matter who is in the lane next to you.

As you are both staged - I become the starting tree - but before I drop my arms, I show you.... the "death card." An easy to read, heavily laminated 16x10 inch beauty with an ET I know you can hit.

For example, let's say I grab the 11.2 “death card.” I show the 11.2 “death card” to the right lane, I show the 11.2 “death card” to the left lane, and BOOM .... I drop my arms. The first racer to the finish line WITHOUT going faster than 11.2 moves on, the loser ... dead meat.

I'm laughing my ass off as I write this cause I can already see the stopwatch in your laps - while your trying not to jump my Armdrop… hook… watch your competitor… not go too fast…shift… find the groove…look at the watch… and get to the finish line first. I'm tell'n you ...this is going to be the greatest fender racing competition the world has ever seen!

By the way, if both vehicles go too fast - both go home. No tree lights, no timing board, no crying, no errors, no excuses. You gotta be perfect - absolutely perfect - to win up to $10K.

Oh jeez so they changed the event for Woodburn... Cuz it's usually a 16 or 32 car field... It's an actual bracket racing event... Crazy
