WOT problem

Ok, new to the fourms, but ive been having a problem out of my streetported 13B na in my 89 when you first start it up for the first 60 seconds or less you can press the pedal to the floor warmed up or not, and it will rev freely, then after that window you press the pedal all the way down and it just starts to stall down then revs back up to about 4500 rpm and stays there any ideas?

Will it rev/drive fine if you give it partial throttle? A TPS issues comes to mind, and I would also check for any trouble codes. You can find info on both in the 2nd gen FAQ sticky, engine section.

lnlreaper 04-16-11 12:47 AM

Yeah it revs and drives fine at about 1/8 to 1/4 throttle any more and I get the issue I know the o2 sensor is messed up the wire was cut when I got the car and I can't find where it goes on the harness

Red_Rotor 04-16-11 07:38 PM

ya sounds like a dead spot in the tps

funkjaw 04-18-11 09:02 PM

Maybe a TPS issue..

Also check fuel pressure that may be the issue.

lnlreaper 05-28-11 05:06 PM

checked the fuel pressure its good, and changed the tps out for another one that works, except nothing changed. I'm kinda at a loss here.

satch 05-29-11 11:42 AM

Disconnect the Pressure Sensor vacuum hose and cap it and then see if anything has changed. You also might want to disconnect the TPS as well when doing this test.

lnlreaper 05-31-11 11:12 AM

It didnt change anything.

funkjaw 06-01-11 01:49 PM

Check your ignition coils.... try swapping them out for known good ones if you can.

lnlreaper 06-01-11 05:58 PM

i made sure they where sparking and they where but i will try switching them with ones that for sure work

Red_Rotor 06-01-11 06:56 PM

Check ur injectors as well, the pigtails as well. Also the thermostat sensor. Its on the backside of the housing. Green plug.

lnlreaper 06-15-11 10:56 PM

ok after trying to have the car timed i had a dead coil replaced it with a good one no change, the problem seems to reset itself each time i turn the car off then back on, and ive not had the chance to check the injectors or thermostat sensor yet, i know its all plugged up.

Would it help if i got a video of what the cars doing and uploaded on youtube to show you guys?

lnlreaper 06-15-11 11:35 PM

i just realized i forgot to mention its streetported with the TB mod and emissions and vac deleted.

satch 06-16-11 09:27 AM

Did you check for possible trouble codes ?

lnlreaper 06-16-11 11:05 PM

I've read the walkthroughs on checking them, and to be honest it still confuses me on how to do it so no; not yet.

kendark2light 06-17-11 09:15 AM

could be oil metering pump failing so it is running in limp mode i think that would show a code...

funkjaw 06-17-11 03:20 PM

Post vid if possible.

con-3-fc3s 06-17-11 03:31 PM

keep us updated, wanna see whats holding you back. Everything points to the tps plus fix your o2 wire if you didnt already.

lnlreaper 06-17-11 05:24 PM

The o2 wire is off the harness like totally gone and i cant find if dose anyone have a picture of where it should be located. The omp is deleted but plugged in so idk on that one; i also put a new tps on it a while back, and ill get the video as soon as i find my camera.

lnlreaper 06-17-11 07:16 PM

ok after doing so more tinkering around with it, im pretty sure its kicking itself into limp mode after running a short duration of time, its fine sitting and idling for longer periods of time but when you actually drive the car it happens faster. because i unplugged the omp wiring and its almost identical to the trouble im having works fine throughout the rpm band at partial throttle but stalls the same way at wot.

lnlreaper 06-18-11 11:41 AM

i hate to do this, triple posting but i got the error codes

here's what i got: 9, 25, 30, 31, 32, 33, 38, 40, 41

funkjaw 06-18-11 12:01 PM

02 wouldn't cause the problem you are describing.

I would have to say OMP limp mode.

Code 9,25 and 41 are most likely the most problematic of your codes while the others are mostly associated with emissions equipment being removed thus the codes. None of the codes are related to the OMP and if your car stays at 4500rpm then it definitely isn't a result of the OMP as a faulty one would likely prevent this from occuring. The Water Thermosensor (code 9) needs to be addressed but you need to gain access to the ECU and take a voltage reading from the sensor wire as it inputs voltage into the ECU. So pull up a copy of the Fuel and Emissions section of the S5 FSM and it will guide you to what pin/wire you are to be looking for at the ECU.

lnlreaper 06-21-11 11:33 PM

so after looking a little bit at the sensor the plug is showing its age and in thinking about just running connectors to the pins and then wiring those to the factory wires instead of the plug because its coming loose as im driving.

lnlreaper 06-22-11 08:30 PM

ok so after fixing the coolant temp sensor the car still kicks limp mode and the code for that is gone. what should i do to look into next to see about 25 and 41.
